Introduction
Open heaven can be defined as a state of being in continuous favour with God and man. It is a situation where we have whatever we need at the time we need it. Open heavens allow us to obtain otherwise difficult breakthroughs easily and people operating under open heaven are looked up to as 'Supermen', when they are really not.
When a person is living right and working in partnership with the Lord, your prayers will not be a 'distress call' NO! The Lord knows about it and it will bring glory to His name. Your prayer will be like the prayer of Jesus Christ at the grave of Lazarus. "Father, I thank You because thou have heard Me. And I know that thou hearest Me always... The next thing was a command. Lazarus, Come forth" John 11: 41-43.
But, the reality is that we live in a wicked world, where men are trying to play god for their fellows. The world is a wicked place (1st John 5:19). and men and women of darkness enjoy afflicting people with the intention to pull them. This explains why many people say 'fire prayers' for Open heaven, instead of affirmative prayer like Christ, because of the wickedness of Men and women in darkness.
The Need for Open heaven prayers
It is a terrible thing for a believer to be praying and fasting under a closed heaven. Closed heaven means stagnancy, being locked-up in a spiritual prison, or in a cage. Whoever is in prison does not receive anything new, the only thing they receive is food from the warders, and never the kind of food they would like to eat.
So, when a spiritually sensitive believer notices stagnancy in the office, lack of favour or addiction etc, it calls for prayer. Instead of saying that someone is responsible, you just enquire from the Lord what the problem is and the right prayer to say. Whenever you are battling with agents of the devil who are enforcing evil decrees against your life, you don't have a choice, but to say some dangerous prayers to clear every spiritual roadblock and open your heavens.
When Elijah called down fire on the mountain, it was affirmative prayer...So that these people may know that I am doing this at your command.
"And it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou art God in Israel, and that I am thy servant, and that I have done all these things at thy word.
Hear me, O Lord, hear me, that these people may know that thou art the Lord God, and that thou hast turned their heart back again. Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench. " - 1 Kings 18:36-38
Types of Open Heavens
Three types of Open Heavens can be discerned from the scriptures. Make no mistake about it, operating under the Open heaven is the place to be, but it comes with love in your heart for God and obedience to His words. Many have walked with God, and many are walking with God today, but only a few have experience open heavens and the glory it represents.
This message is to remind us to Love the Lord, our God with all our heart as it is written in Mark 12:30, saying "And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment:
If we love the Lord and obey His instructions, favour is sure. If we fear the Lord, there will be divine abundance and protection for us. The different types of open heaven are:
God Class Open Heaven
The real open heaven is real to men who are operating in the God class.
For your information, only Christ operated in the God class. In Mathew 3:16-18, the bible recorded that when Jesus was baptized, as He was coming out of the water, lo, the heavens were opened unto Him, and John the Baptist saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon Him: And lo, a voice from heaven saying, "This is My Beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased".
That was the first open heavens, coming with the Holy Spirit to empower the Lord to fulfil his ministry. Jesus is Lord, creator of everything that was created, but that was prior to His coming down as Jesus for our redemption.
He created everything as the Word that was with God in the beginning, but here He is as Jesus Christ, having earthly parents, though He is God. He was taken to the Temple at the age of 12, after which he remained there, to do the business of His father.
When you are operating in the God class, you know what to do to obtain what you need from the Almighty God and nothing is impossible for your God. You are in partnership with God and anything can happen as you desire them to happen. At this level, you are a special person to God.
Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God operated in the God class, knowing things that would happen in advance, He knew all men and nothing took Him unawares. He was in the will of His Father and did all things as commanded by His Father.
He came for baptism at the age of 30, after which the Spirit of descended upon Him and His ministry started for another three and a half years. Open heavens started with His ministry and He Operated under it throughout His earthly ministry. The first category of Open heaven is the God class Open heaven.

Open heaven through Service
The second category of Open heaven that is provoked by Love for God and service in His vineyard.
This second Open heaven applies to men of God. Faithful ministers of God are the closest example of what I am saying. Their heart desires are met easily by God. They have laboured in the vineyard for years until their heaven blasts open.
They are more or less in partnership with the Lord as their lives are totally sold out for God. They have trusted the Lord with everything they have and the will of God is their own will. Their zeal for the things of God is not in doubt. Their members do not see themselves serving their Pastor, but God.
Also, the needs of the church are seen as the need of God, and once it is communicated to the members, it is as good as done. This is the nightmare of youthful Pastors, who think that Open heaven is achieved by manipulating their members. Many ministers of God operate in this class, subject to their talent and gifts from the Lord. Some are given 5, 3 and 1 piece of talent.
Open Heavens by Obedience
There is yet another kind of open heaven that is available to men who love the Lord and live in obedience to the word of God. These are men and women who key into the word of the Lord as their platform to greatness. They willingly serve the Lord happily in their local assemblies, fulfil their kingdom covenant obligations, live holy and observe the order given to their set men of God.
God gives every servant He chose some doctrines and godly practices, that is why you have different churches with different believes and areas of emphasis. For example, Mountain of Fire and Miracle ministries have their own belief systems, Redeem Church have theirs, The Bride Assembly and Winner Chapel all have theirs. Members of these ministries that experience the best of Open heavens are those that follow the doctrines of their church.
God knows that everybody will not like MFM style of service and prayer. Those children of God with fire in their blood will never like quite easy-going churches. That's why God provided churches for different people, but all of them preaching one gospel. When you believe your 'Prophet', the set man of your ministry and comply with the church doctrine, you will prosper. It's a spiritual law.
The third type of Open heaven is the one described in Deuteronomy 28:1-14. It is provoked by obedience to the Word of God. In verse 12, the bible says the Lord shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of your hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.
In Malachi 3:10, the bible says again, "Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
From these scriptures, it is clear that when you pay your tithes, you will see the evidence of God's mercy. When you pay your first fruit and give your offerings, a window is opened in heaven to release an uncommon outpouring of miracles, healings, and breakthrough in different areas of life. For people in the third class, their experience of open heavens can be for a season, a year or as long as they continue in their covenant obligations.
But, when they mature in the things of God and obedience, they can live under a continuous open heaven.
CONCLUSION
For the life of a child of God to prosper, the hand of God must be seen in his life and business. We know the plans that God has for us, it is a plan for good, not of evil. So, when a person is stagnated in one position for years, it is not the will of God. When life is devoid of favour, it is not the will of God, because the bible says 'Favour is life'.
If you think your heaven is closed, you have to cry for mercy. You should be ready to enter into a living fellowship with the Lord. A person who desires to have divine an intervention will have to know how to please God in word and action. You should have a lively relationship with the Lord. Divine intervention is a small thing when there is a strong fellowship between man and Christ.
Friends, Jesus is coming back soon. If you have not given your heart to Him, please don't wait another day...
Confess your sins to God in prayer and ask for His forgiveness, believe He has forgiven you. Then ask Jesus to come into your heart, and be your Lord and Saviour. Believe the Lord has also accepted your request and His Spirit is already inside your heart.
If you said that prayer from your heart, know for sure that you are BORN AGAIN, a new baby in the kingdom of God. You have also received the power to be the son or daughter of God. Congratulations, you're born again!
