Everything we receive from God is in response to our faith, except what God has ordained to give to us. Whether it is money or ideas to make money, God will give to us according to our faith in Him. The Bible is full of scriptures about your financial increase, wealth and prosperity and we are going to explore the Bible for what to do when we need money from God.
If you’re praying for a financial breakthrough, or money making ideas from God, there’s no better place to turn than to God’s word. As believers, when we read, meditate and memorize God’s Word concerning money, we’ll find answers to receiving the money we need. The process is faith-driven and action oriented.
Showing Mercy: The bible says a lot about showing mercy to others in need. God loves a man or woman with a compassionate heart towards those in need. This is because any mercy shown to the poor, widows and the fatherless, are regarded as lending to God. God is the Husband to widows of Zion, He is the Father to the fatherless.
When you show mercy on people in difficult situation continually, you become a candidate for God's favour. God will surround your life with favour as a shield. That means that when you are in need, God will raise men to help you at the nick of time.
Giving: The word of God says, give and it shall be given to you, good measure, pressed down and running over will men give unto you. When you need money from the Creator, it will be helpful for you to be kind to others. Even when you don't have much, the desire to share that little thing you know is not enough for your need is a sacrifice before God. That is because, you are not giving from your abundance, but from your lack.
I remember once when I visited a relative in the village. and during our conversation she informed me that she needed money to travel to Lagos to keep an important appointment, and the money was not available. I had to cut short my own plans right there in order to finance her trip to Lagos.
That is sacrificial giving because it caused me some inconveniences. Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back - Luke 6:38
Be a liberal giver, “As it is written: “He has scattered abroad His gifts to the poor; His righteousness endures forever.” Now He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your store of seed and will increase the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way to be generous on every occasion…”- 2 Corinthians 9:9–11 :
Men and women who enjoy the favour of God are freewill givers, even if it is their last Naira/Dollar. Give people good support that will move their life or situation forward. It could be money, time or skills that you have. You are expected to give what you have, and as you do so, God will put you in remembrance. All must give as they are able, according to the blessings given to them by the Lord your God - Deuteronomy 16:17
Faithfulness in Tithe and Offering: I speak from the bible and personal experience. Whoever is faithful in paying his/her Tithe and offerings in the Church, to see that the work of God is moving forward will surely be blessed, especially when such money is from a clean source.
The book of Malachi 3:9-10 says "Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, “I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test!" - Malachi 3:8-10
Honouring the Lord with our seed bring financial blessing to us. The scriptures cannot be broken, and it says "Honor the Lord with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce. Then he will fill your barns with grain, and your vats will overflow with good wine" - Proverbs 3:9-10
Fulfiling our vows to God is another simple principle that brings favour and financial blessings. Through the financil contributions we make, we partner with God for the progress of His work, winning souls and taking people from darkness to light. You are expected to give what you have, and sometimes what God put in your heart to give. When you need money from God, fulfill your tithe and offering obligtions, redeem any vows you have made in your church and any other church in the past.
Many people make vows and later forget their vows and leave them unfulfiled, God is not happy with such attitude. Whenever you make a vow before God or in the congregation, fulfil them.
Seed Offerings: Be careful to see a need in the house of God and be determined to fix that problem. Even when you don't have the money, if you see a need, you can ask God for a financial blessing to fix that problem. If you pray and say "O'Lord God, if you give my N10million, I will buy a big generator and install air-conditions in the church auditorium, that will reduce the heat condition during our Sunday services which is overbearing on people. When God see your sincerity of purpose, He will send the money to you, at least to test you.
If you receive that money and invest them in the work you have vowed before God to do, you passed the test and also enter into a new level with God. God will see you as someone He can trust with more for His works. God will begin to pass huge amount of money through for the propagation of His kingdom works, and your life will never be the same again.
Restitution: Restitution is an act of repentance from a wrong decision or judgement. Sometimes its repentance from a sinful act. When you steal anything from someone, or you took what does not belong to you. Sometimes put in your care that does not belong to you is not available for you to take home and convert to your use.
Sometimes, traders give you change in excess of what it should be in the market. At other times, they make mistake in their calculation of what you are buying and ask you to pay an amount less than the goods you took. Whenever you notice such an error, as a Believer, you are expected to pay the correct amount, and when you failed to pay it in the market, you must go back to the market and return the money to the trader. If you don't order your steps in that way, when the Trader cries to God, He will be angry with you.
Whatever you took carelessly without permission, quickly return those things to make your ways straight before God and God will released money and ideas for greatness upon your life. That is godliness in practice and God loves and rewards godly living.
Fasting with Seed: This fasting with seed idea cme to me as I was meditating and writing this message. It goes thus: Calculate your cost of feeding for three days and sow it as a Seed Offering for financial favour or breakthrough as you may like, then go ahead and fast for three days with water or completely dry. Three days dry fasting with water is also healthy.
Within the three days you are fasting, specify what you need from God. Make sure it is what is in your heart that you are asking God to give you. The reason is simple. When God comes down, to answer your prayers, He will look at your heart, not necessarily what you are asking that is not in your heart, so ask for what is in your heart.
Keep your Secrets: When you are expecting money from God, please keep your secrets to yourself. Disclosing your needs and your plans to people could work against your plans. The agents of the devil are united in sharing information at their disposal to those among them working against you.
Even when you see a good vision of things to come, or you heard the word of knowledge or prophesy, do not disclose them to anyone. They could take the matter to their master to divert or destroy the blessing. Keep your plans and strategies to yourself. Even the steps you have started and the things that has happened must be kept secret from the enemy.
The first target is the people around you and those who seem are sympathic to your cause. If they belong to darkness (as Witches or Wizards) your information could be used against you or your benefactor.
Studying and Meditating the Word.
The traditional approach to obtaining what you want from God remains that you have to study and meditate on the Word and then pray them into your life. It is still valid approach to reciving from God. This approach works for people who trust in the Lord and His power to do all things.
It works for people who are not desperate for result, who know that God does not come late to any occassion, and that whenever God shows up is the appointed time for that request.
Starting from God's provisions, you will review relevant scriptures and begin to apply them in your everyday life. Understand that when you ask God for money, He will send someone to bless you with cash (When it is urgent) or give you money-making ideas. Study and meditate on the many assurances God has given us in the Bible to assure yourself that God will come through for you.
God’s Provision: Study and meditate on the awesome promise of God contained in deteronomy 28:1-12 and see the result of obedience to the word of God. It is an assurance that if you will believe God and act on His word and instruction, God will surely fulfil His promises to you.
“The Lord shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.” Deteronomy 28: 1-12
Philippians 4:19: And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.
Here, Apostle Paul is assuring you that God that has faithfully taken care of his needs in every place he went to witness Christ, will take care of you when you walk in His will. What you do should be in the will of God for your life. That is, are you doing what God created you to do? If yes, God will supply all your needs and you will bless His name.
2 Corinthians 9:8: And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.
This scripture encourages you to ask God for what you need because He is a generous Giver, who gives us more than what we imagine or think of. Many times, God gives us more than what we asked for.
Jeremiah 17:7-8: But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence. They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by the long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.
This scripture assures you of the blessed state of those who trust in the Lord with all their heart.
Prayer:
Prayer starts with confession of our sins and repenting over them all. Confession is followed by amendment, i.e correcting some of our deeds that can be corrected, like returning over-payments made to you in error, books you rented and kept etc.
It is always a good practice to pray the scriptures your spirit received as relevant to your request. So scan the bible and discover where men asked God for money or other things and use the prayers those men prayed. This works because God is the same yesterday, today and forever. What He did for James, He will do for John, given the same conditions.
While praying and fasting, believe you have already received your answers and they will be yours. After your prayer begin to confess positive words of faith and trust.
Friends, Jesus is coming soon. It is the loving-kindness of God that He has kept you alive till now. So, give Him praises and receive His Son, Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour of your life.
Today is the day of salvation, tomorrow may be late!
Say this simple prayer:
Heavenly Father, I come to You in the name of Jesus Christ.
I believe Jesus died for my sins and rose again for my justification. I repent of my sins and ask for forgiveness. I ask Jesus to come into my heart and reign as my Lord and Saviour.
I receive Him by faith and I am born again.
