Introduction

The work of the flesh cannot be transformed into spiritual work, no matter how hard one works.  God only recognizes a man's work when he or she is guided by the Holy Ghost.

Among all the gifts of God, the Holy Spirit is the most precious one.  That is because when we receive the Holy Spirit, all grace and blessings come through Him.  With His guidance, we are able to serve God acceptably. It is important fo the Spirit of God to guide us in everything we do.

There is a link between salvation and the Holy Spirit.  Salvation is a gift of God and salvation also means having eternal life, the life of Christ and living forever through Christ.  The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Christ, so when we receive the Holy Spirit, we receive the life of Christ and we also have eternal life.

The purpose of this publication is to further share with the readers, the person and importance of receiving the Holy Spirit and being guided by Him.  I pray the Lord will grant you understanding.

The Holy Spirit

Jesus speaking in John 3:6 says "Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit". The Spirit quicken us to do the will of God and other actions that are beneficial to us.

To please God, our actions must be Spirit-led, for no one can inherit the kingdom of Heaven through the works of the flesh.  All works resulting from man's effort will turn to dust.

So, the Holy Ghost and His Spirit are at the centre of our relationship with God.  He's the Spirit of God that knows the mind of God and searches all things.

It is the Holy Spirit that seals our redemption in Christ till the end of our journey on earth and anyone that have not the Spirit of Christ, is not His own.

JESUS CHRIST

When Jesus was born, He was born of the Holy Spirit.  He was led to the wilderness by the Holy Spirit.

He waited for the Holy Spirit for 30 years, so He would not be alone or struggle. A child of God who is not conscious of the presence and power of the Holy Spirit will surely struggle for many things.

As it was for Christ, our example, so it is for all of us.  Whether we are ministers of the gospel or not, we need the presence and help of the Holy Spirit every day of our lives.

In Luke 4:18-18, Jesus entered the synagogue and the scripture He opened attested to this fact. It says the Spirit of the Lord is upon me ...

The Bible speaking in Luke 4:14-15 says Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit and taught in their synagogue and everyone praised Him.

Jesus Christ who created the world and held authority over all things depended on the power of the Holy Spirit, how much more mortal beings like us.

JESUS CHRIST AND THE HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit behaves exactly like Jesus Christ.  He was sent to replace the physical presence of Jesus Christ in the lives of the Believers.  So that while the believer may not see Christ in person, we can feel His presence by His Spirit dwelling in us.

There are many names of Jesus Christ which apply to the Holy Spirit.  Jesus is called the Morning Star, He is the Sun of Righteousness.  Christ brings light into darkness according to 2 Peter 1:19.  When light comes into darkness, darkness cannot comprehend it, so it will have to go.

Isaiah 9:2 talks about people who walked in darkness seeing a great light, which light is Jesus Christ.  Jesus Christ is the Light of the world and whenever light appears in the darkness, the light drives away darkness.

It is the same with Jesus Christ.  Wherever the Lord appears, whatever is contrary disappears.  It might be hunger, sorrow or grief.

Both Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit share the name Comforter.  Jesus in His earthly ministry was known to comfort many people in distress.

The woman with the issue of blood is one of them, She bled for 12 years until she came to Jesus and got her healing.  All the people who were in sorrow before going to Jesus Christ received their healing and comfort.

The Holy Spirit is called the Spirit of Christ and Romans 8:9 says "The wind bloweth where it listed, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit"

Jesus has been the Comforter of the Believers since creation, and when He was about to depart and return to the Father, He promised to send us another Comforter, someone who would do exactly what He would have done.

That Comforter is the Holy Spirit, who would live in us and be with us forever.  Jesus said the Holy Spirit will come and dwell with us forever.  That tells you that without the Holy Spirit working in a life, such a person can hardly please God.

It is the Holy Spirit of God in us that enables us to communicate with God easily, and whenever God wants to talk to us, He talks to us through the Holy Spirit who is living inside us.

That is how and why someone can say "Thus says the Lord", and nobody would ask him to shut up.  We know that God talks to us through His Spirit living inside us and no other person will hear the conversation.

The Holy Spirit is the Teacher of the Word of God.  Just as Jesus Christ is a Teacher, so the Holy Spirit is.  Jesus says the Holy Spirit will tell us the things to come, He is the revealer of the future in addition to teaching the scripture.

Do you know why He teaches the scriptures better than any man?  He inspired the writing of the Bible and knows the mind of God and His purpose in every scripture.

So, for all the questions about the scriptures which even your Pastor or bible teachers cannot explain, the Holy Spirit will explain them to you.  The Holy Spirit will give you full details of any difficult question you may have if you ask Him.

As our guide and Teacher, the Holy Spirit shows us the way to go, when we are in doubt, or when the way is full of thorns and danger.

His guardian makes life so easy that everyone who has encountered the help and direction of the Holy Spirit knows that His importance in our lives is not negotiable.

In Romans 8:14, the bible says "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God".  Without the Spirit of God living inside of you, you are not a son or daughter of God.

To that extent, the Holy Spirit directs us where to work, who to marry and even the type of business to do.  When you have the Holy Spirit living inside of you, He will reveal secrets that others do not know to you, and it will be difficult for fraudsters to scam you.

If the Holy Spirit is active in your life, revelation will be a regular experience in your life.  He will tell you what to do in business, what assets to invest in and the things to come in that business, so you can plan ahead and succeed.

The Holy Spirit is God in you.  He is the Spirit of Christ, your Comforter and intercessor.  He prays for the believers  - Romans 8:26.

BEFORE ASCENSION

To underscore the importance of the Holy Spirit in the lives of His disciples,  Jesus told them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for the gift of the Father, the Holy Spirit, which God had promised.

For John baptized with water, but in a few days, you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit Acts 1:4-5.  We cannot ignore the Holy Spirit, whom Christ mentioned and recommended to us if we want to please God.

CONCLUSION

Friends, Jesus is coming soon.  If you have not yet received Him as Lord and Saviour, I plead with you to do it now.

Say this simple prayer:

Heavenly Father, I come to You in the name of Jesus Christ.  I confess my sins and ask for forgiveness.

I believe Jesus died for my sins and rose again for my justification. I ask Jesus to come into my heart and reign as my Lord and Saviour.

I receive Him by faith and I am born again.
