HOW TO ASK GOD ..... For Money and more

HOW TO ASK GOD FOR MONEY

Introduction

Prayer plays a vital role in the life of a Christian.  It is God's arrangement for everyone who needs divine intervention and if you don't pray, you will not receive.

Jesus started His ministry with prayer and continued in prayer till He conquered the enemy and handed the victory to us.  If we want to see the hand of God move mightily in our lives, we have to pray and continue to pray effectively.

Prayer can be seen as a spiritual investment because there is no problem too big for God to solve.  His word says we should pray without season.  In Isaiah 62: 6-7, He says we should not give him rest, that we should persist in prayer, seeking and knocking until our prayers are answered.

ASKING FOR MONEY

A child of God needs to pray for financial breakthroughs and money because the Bible says money answers all things, and without money, practically nothing can be done.  Without money and the ability to earn it, a person loses value in society and becomes vulnerable.

Money gives voice to anyone that has it,  it can transform a beggar into a Chief, and community leader within months.  Without money, you cannot do the work of the gospel or anything meaningful.  That is why the devil and his agents do a lot of blood sacrifices for money, and to control the channels of financial resources.

Having said that, let me inform you that a review of people's comments shows that 'Prayer for money' is one of the highest prayer requests that God receives every other day, especially in countries with difficult economic conditions.

Yet, some people think that it is not right to ask God for money. Some people have no problem asking God for a car, house and even a godly spouse, but when it comes to money (Cash), they get jittery.  They say God will not answer any request for money because of their love for money.  Is that correct!

Money isn’t evil, but the love of money is a root that can develop into all kinds of evil (1 Timothy 6:10). When your love of money exceeds your love of God, you may find yourself on a dark path that leads you to do evil things in order to get money. Judas betrayed the Lord because money seemed more important. The love of money can give evil a foothold. It is good to guard your heart against every kind of greed because life is not measured by how much you own (Luke 12:15).

Loving God leads you into a mindset of abundance where you feel you have enough to share with others. You can show love to people who have needs around you. The love of God and the love of money are warring concepts. When you love money, you will never feel like you have enough. So, don’t let money guide your happiness. It’s not true that the more money you have, the more happiness you’ll achieve (Ecclesiastes 5:10).

Money is used to help and support the needy, and serving God often means using money to help other people. The love for money leads you to only think for yourself. But if you step away from your enslavement to money you will be unencumbered and free to follow Christ into true riches (Matthew 19:21).

God, knows how to take care of His people.  He sends rain at the proper time and comes to bless the works of their hand so that they can have a good harvest. The moment you have a relationship with Him, and usually commits your ways unto His hands, there is nothing you cannot ask Him to do for you.  And when God gives you the power to get wealth, nobody can stop it.  The question is:

CAN WE ASK GOD FOR MONEY? ....YES!

Let's look at the Scriptures:  There is no specific scripture about asking God for money in the Bible, but scriptures are asking us to request what we want from God and it shall be given to us.  The Lord in Luke 11:9 says this:  “And I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you”.

Praying for money or a financial breakthrough is okay because our God is a God of abundance. You should know and trust in Him as your provider, Afterall His name is called - Jehovah Jireh, which means the Lord your Provider.

Prayer is the fastest way to receive anything from God and man. But, before you start praying, make sure you have meditated on the matter and considered the relevant scriptures in the Bible.

In John 16:24 He says “Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: Ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full” (John 16:24).  In these two scriptures, the Lord did not specify what we should ask for.  He just says…Ask and it shall be given to you, and you know His Words cannot fall to the ground.  Once spoken, it is established in heaven and earth.  So, if the Lord, who will answer the prayer did not put any limitation on what you can ask for, why limit yourself?

God gave us a ‘Blank Cheque’ for us to complete.  He says to ask what you need and it shall be given to you.  Rich people understand that spiritual principle more than poor guys.  And they (The rich) are the ones asking God for money and more money, so they can execute their multi-million Dollar projects, while the poor guys will not dare ask for money.

They claim to be careful and righteous in their requests.  Instead of asking for money that will change their lives, they will rather ask God for wisdom to manage the money they currently have, insisting that the better they can do that, the more trustworthy they show themselves to be.

God is rich and He cannot be bothered by the request of man.  In Jeremiah 33:3, the Lord says - Call to me in times of trouble, and I will answer you and show you great things you know not.  We are limited in knowledge but God knows all things and the bible says with Him, nothing shall be impossible – Luke 1:37.

In case anyone is wondering whether his/her request will be answered, the Lord says to that man in Isaiah 41:21-22:  “Come, bring your strong points, let us reason together.  He says come and tell me what you plan to do with the money you are asking for…Isn’t that wonderful?

To receive anything from God, we must have faith in Him.  You must also believe that He is the rewarder of them that diligently serve Him – Hebrew 11:6.  Jesus says in Mark 11:24 that whatsoever we desire when we pray, we should believe that we have it and we shall receive the blessing.

Simply put, before you begin to pray, you have to believe in your heart that you have received what you are about to ask for.  There is no doubt about that, the answer you want is already in your hands – That’s faith.

In 1 Thessalonians 5:17, the Bible says "If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land". If you recognize your need for God and commit your ways unto His hands, and pray and seek His help, deliverance or intervention in any matter, and turn from your evil ways, then the Lord will hear your prayer, forgive your sins and help you.

This scripture makes it clear that God will look at the person praying to know who that person is.  Are you born-again? Do you have a relationship with the Lord? Do you forgive others?  Are you honourable in your family like Jabez?, Do you commit your ways unto the Lord and trust Him to help you?  If you do all these, you can ask anything and they will be given to you because you delight in the Lord.

The Bible in Psalms 37:4 – says “Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart”.  When you delight yourself in the Lord, the desires of your heart, things you have not even asked for will be given to you.  We have a video on how to delight in the Lord every day.  That video is part of the coming Training on how to ASK GOD FOR MONEY.

Here’s the condition that makes your faith produce … You have to ask in faith, not doubting anything – James 1:6-8.  Mark 11:24 says “I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours”.  Jesus speaking in John 16:24 says “Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: Ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full” (John 16:24).

The Bible says in Deuteronomy 8:18, “You shall remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the power to get wealth, that he may confirm the covenant that he swore to your fathers, as it is this day.  The anointing to get wealth is closely related to asking for money, and God gives a person that anointing so that He might establish the covenant of Abraham with him/her.

In Genesis 12:2-3, you will discover that the Abrahamic covenant is a covenant of blessing.  God vowed to make Abraham a great nation,  to bless him and make his name great and he shall be a blessing.  He did not stop there, the Lord continued to say “I will bless them that bless him and curse them that curse Abraham, and in him, shall all the families of the earth be blessed.  All these prophecies about Abraham have been fulfilled.

Again, we see in 2 Corinthians 9:8, which assures us that “And God can make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work”. God can make all grace available to us to enable us to have whatever we desire in abundance so that we can also abound in good works.

What did Christ say about Money?

Jesus was more concerned about what we do with the money that God has blessed us with.  Are we going to help others who do not have?  According to Him, it is important to share with those who do not have by giving them food, clothes, and all other basic needs that they cannot acquire for themselves.

The Lord and his disciples paid taxes in the city of Capernaum.  He encouraged them to pay taxes - (Matthew 22:21).  He taught forgiveness of those who owe you and cannot pay back.  Jesus taught if multiple people owe you money, do not forgive only the one owing small amounts, but all of them. This is according to Luke 7:41-43.

When you have abundance, the bible says in 1 Timothy 6:17-18 says:

“Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.”

Don’t become arrogant. Work hard and become successful in life but don’t think of yourself as better than others because of your material wealth. In Deuteronomy 8:18 Moses reminds us, “But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth.”

Don’t put your hope in your wealth. Proverbs 23:5 says, “Cast but a glance at riches, and they are gone, for they will surely sprout wings and fly off to the sky like an eagle.” A good job or business and its steady earnings can be here today and gone tomorrow.

Be rich in good deeds. A good deed is a free and voluntary act of service toward another person. Doing good deeds for others is the fruit of your salvation in Jesus Christ. Ephesians 2:10 tells us: “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works.”

Be generous and willing to share. Generous people are synergistic. They build organizations and contribute to the success of others. Think about all these!

Friends, you can ask God for anything you like in whatever words you like. The question is what is in your heart? What are you going to use the money for?  If your reasons are genuine and good, from the depths of your heart, you are fine.  God watches His word to fulfil them, so the ball is in your court.

CONCLUSION

Friends, Jesus is coming soon.  If you have not yet received Him as Lord and Saviour, I plead with you to do it now.

Say this simple prayer:

Heavenly Father, I come to You in the name of Jesus Christ.

I believe Jesus died for my sins and rose again for my justification. I repent of my sins and ask for forgiveness. I ask Jesus to come into my heart and reign as my Lord and Saviour.

I receive Him by faith and I am born again.
