BENEFITS OF SALVATION
Faith in Christ is the most important requirement for salvation. Believing in Jesus Christ and receiving Him as your Lord and Saviour complete it.
Faith is however not the only thing required. You must admit you're a sinner who cannot deliver yourself from sin and have come short of the glory of God - See what Romans 3:23 says
Salvation is about receiving Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, and recognizing that He paid the price for the freedom you are about to enjoy with His blood on the cross. When you have received the Lord as your Lord with a willing heart, God has promised forgiveness of sin and eternal life in heaven to all who receive the Lord - John 1:12.
So what did you receive?
1. You received redemption from spiritual death. You're restored and brought back to the Tree of Life as you accept and obey the word of God. You also received the love of God - Freedom from sin through Jesus Christ. You received the new birth, which takes place the moment you believe.
2. You received eternal life, which is the nature and life of God, that comes upon you instantaneously. This is one of the misunderstood doctrines, which made some believers ignorantly thought eternal life will come when they get to heaven. But that is not the case, for when a person is born of God, he receives eternal life.
3. With salvation, the nature and substance of God are with us through the Holy Spirit. Sin and Satan can no longer continue to reign over us. We are free from the dominion of Satan and his agents. We're a new creation in the spirit, and all our debts are wiped away and we're no more condemned, we have passed from death to life in Christ.
4. When a person confesses Jesus, as Lord and saviour, and agrees that God raised Him from the dead for his justification, that person receives the power to become sons and daughters of God. God created everyone, but those who receive His Son become His children. That means that while He is the God of the world, He is your Father. He will take care of all your needs, grant you divine protection and victory throughout your pilgrimage.
5. You also received forgiveness of your sins. You received a new spirit and nature, so you can live and walk in the spirit. That is the secret to dominion success. You are able to discern what is happening in the spirit, what God is saying to you, what the devil and his agents are doing also...all these through the help of the Holy Spirit.
When the Lord opens your spiritual ears and eyes to see into the spirit realm, the devil cannot take you by surprise anymore. All of these comes with the grace for righteous living and favour of God released upon you - Glory to God!
6. You become one with the Lord, for when you received the Holy Spirit into your inward man, you are born into the family of God. You're a branch and Christ is the vine. The Lord is the head and you are the body - See John 15:5.
7. You received the presence of the Lord with you. The Greater One (Jesus Christ) is in you, and that makes you an overcomer in the battles of life. However, you will have to live in obedience to the word of God. If only you will realize what it means for the presence of the Lord to be with you, your faith will rise to the peak, and all things become possible for you - See 1 John 4:4.
Expectations:
The new man is expected to believe the word of God and make it a standard for life. In the word, you will find God and answer every question of life. In the Bible is the mind of God on every issue, His will for man, His commands and promises.
The word of God becomes a lasting partner of a newborn baby, your spiritual food which should be eaten daily, as natural food which the body needs every day. As you study and meditate on the word, pray always to God, asking for mercy and help.
Another important expectation of every child of God is that he will love the Father with all his heart, honour, and serve Him. You can start today, by joining a group in your local Church and there use your time, skill, and resources to serve the Lord. Do the work of Evangelism, and soul-winning as a duty. May the Lord keep you faithful till the coming of Christ!
