TITHING: FINANCIAL CURSE FOR NOT TITHING....And what did the Bible say?

Consequences Of Not Paying Tithes - Oyedepo Reveals

TITHING HAS BLESSINGS ATTACHED

Introduction

Presiding Bishop of Living Faith Church Worldwide alias Winners’ Chapel International, David Oyedepo, says people who do not give a tenth of their income to the church are under a financial curse.

David Oyedepo said this in a tweet on Thursday.

The cleric tweeted, “Tithing is an inescapable covenant obligation. Prosperity not just wealth is impossible without tithing because when you are not paying tithe, you’re under a financial curse.”

In a subsequent tweet on Friday, Oyedepo said many problems men face could be traced to their financial dealings.   “The way you handle your financial dealings determines greatly what happens to you financially. Many things that afflict men are traceable to their monetary dealings. False financial dealings can open doors to inexplicable afflictions,” he said.

But many of Oyedepo’s followers defended him and asked his critics not to discourage others from paying tithe.

Consistent Opinion on Tithing

NOV 24, 2017: The bishop has been consistent with his call for Believers to pay tithe.  As a faith and prosperity preacher, he has maintained his stance on paying tithe.  In 2017 at Abuja meeting he repeated what he believes thus:

Bishop David Oyedepo of Living Faith Ministries has revealed the consequences that await any Christian who doesn't pay tithe.

Oyedepo, while speaking to members of Dunamis International Gospel Centre in Abuja on Thursday said that tithing opens the windows of heaven and ensures divine blessings for Christians adding that those who don't pay are permanently beggars. In his words;

"If you don’t pay tithe you are permanently a beggar. I’m permanently under an open heaven. Every seed you give to God returns but only tithe secures your destiny. It's tithing that secures your blessing. Through the mystery of tithing, you don’t run out of divine ideas. Tithing opens the windows of heaven and pours you quick understandings."

TITHING -  Malachi 3: 8-12

In the scripture here, God was rebuking the people of Israel through Prophet Malachai for not paying tithe and telling them the consequences for not doing so.  There are curses and other consequences for not paying tithe and Believers who know their God will fulfil their tithe obligations to the Lord.

In this scripture, God was speaking through Prophet Malachai:

8 Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.

9 Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation.

10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

11 And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the Lord of hosts.

12 And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the Lord of hosts.

Arguments against Tithe

The only argument people give for ignoring tithe is that it is an old Testament doctrine, which has been nullified by the death of Christ.  They will ask: Doesn’t the bible say that we are free from the curse of the law?  The bible says in Galatians 3:14 that “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us“.

The refer to Galatians 3:10 which states, “For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them.“

The implication is that if you think that Tithe is an Old Testament matter, under the Law, then you are not likely going to pay tithe, but the blessings attached to tithing you will lose.  Paying your tithe is an obligation with blessings attached to its compliance.

These blessings include:
1. God says: I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

2. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the Lord of hosts.

3. And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the Lord of hosts.
Malachai 3:10b-12

Tithing is a biblical obligation and believers who have a deep relationship with the Lord do not require long preaching in order to pay their tithe.  Like everything in the house of God, you are not forced to pay tithe.

CONCLUSION:
Friends, the King (JESUS CHRIST) is coming.  The question is "Where will you spent eternity - in heaven or hell". This is the time to work out your salvation...Now is the acceptable time.

If you have received Jesus as Lord and Saviour of your life, say this short prayer:

Heavenly Father, I come in prayer in the name of Jesus Christ.  I repent of my sins and confess them. O'Lord, forgive my sin have mercy on me.  I believe that Jesus died for my sins and rose again for my justification. I invite Jesus into my heart to reign as Lord and Saviour of my life.

Thank You for answered prayers, I am born again.
