DELIVERANCE HAS COME TO STAY....Ministers should be guided by the Holy Spirit!

Introduction

Deliverance is God's gift to the Church through the Holy Ghost.  It started with our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, who conducted countless deliverance for people possessed and those tormented by the evil spirits in His days.  

Deliverance should always be spirit-driven, and no Minister of God should be confident enough to ignore the guidance of the Holy Spirit during a deliverance service.  As it is with prophecy, so it is with deliverance, the minister must yield the podium to the Holy Spirit and confirm every voice he hears.

A deliverance minister should also test the spirit speaking through the deliverance candidate and discern the best way to command the spirit to go away.  All of these are the works of the Holy Spirit and any voice or command that contradicts the word of God must be rebuked and silenced by the Minister.

Recently a Prophet was taken to Court for carelessly touching a sensitive part of a married woman in the church during ministration.  The husband of the woman could not hide his feeling, though the woman disagreed with him, saying that the Prophet could touch any part of her body if he is led by the Spirit of God. 

Deliverance:

Though the doctrine of deliverance has been resisted by many in the body of Christ, deliverance is a renewal process for believers. When you begin to feel funny as a child of God, you know that something is wrong.  When all of a sudden, you have strange thoughts, thoughts of lust, anger and bitterness etc, you know you need to embark on a deliverance prayer for yourself, that's deliverance. 

The Pastor or prophet can command such negative influence to leave and the demon will go, but some members, they may not be able to cast such an evil spirit away, hence they need to go to their Pastor or Prophet for deliverance prayer.  God ordained deliverance and included it in the assignment of our Lord, Jesus Christ during His days on earth.  We see this  in Luke 4:18-19, which  says: 

"The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me Because He has anointed Me. To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed. To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord." 

Mount Zion of prayers

Deliverance is a continuous process in the life of a born-again Christian because it spiritually cleanses the Body, Soul and Spirit from sickness, diseases and demonic hindrances. Each time we seek God's face for help with all our hearts, we would always get answers. If you have a unique need that has defiled your prayers, you will do well by taking a break from everything else and crying to God at a remote place, a mountain or somewhere outside your home, and the Lord will hear and answer your prayers.  

That is why the bible says:

“But upon Mount Zion shall be deliverance and there shall be holiness, and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.”.  Upon mount Zion means when you seek God specifically on any matter when you go in search of God to solve your problem, God will hardly ignore such exercise of faith.  He will hear you and deliver you, so you can possess of your possession.  

Without deliverance, some people will never take hold of the good things God has assigned to them and the reason is that they are spiritually weak in the midst of a wicked and envious world.  Spiritually strong men steal people's blessing as soon as it appears in the spirit realm and they see it.  God ordained deliverance and Jesus practised it. While sending His disciples out, He gave them power, saying to them,  As you go, preach the message saying 'The kingdom of heaven is near' 

1. Heal the sick, 

2. Raise the dead, 

3. Cleanse those who have leprosy, 

4. Cast out demons -  Freely you have received, freely give. Matt 10:5-10

Some Truths about Demons

1. A demon is a spirit, which moves like wind or breath. Most evil spirits leave through the breathing passage or by any opening in the body. This is why sometimes when prayers are hot some people begin to manifest in different ways.  Some will fall down and begin to roll on the floor if the demon is a snake and so on. 

2. Demons must necessarily have a legal ground for staying in a person’s life.

3. Therefore, when praying for self-deliverance, you should keep quiet after the prayer before ejecting those evil spirits. This is why at times we ask people to breathe in and out. If you are praying or speaking at this time, the spirit will not go out because you have not opened the way for it.

4. Demons can come out through simple breathing, coughing, choking, yawning, vomiting, etc. The manifestations vary according to the person and the spirit involved. All the spirits that are not deeply rooted, depart easily, but those deeply entrenched, will require more time and effort to go. The more stubborn ones will require the help of other believers. Even when they are that strong, and you continue to wound them daily, they will eventually be mortally wounded.

5. Also, know that if multiple spirits are responsible for one problem, all of them must be removed before total victory is assured. One thing is certain; with every inch of ground grabbed from the devil, you will notice a definite improvement in your life. This is certain. Once the spirit leaves you, there will be a change in you.

deliverance Ministration

Deliverance Ministration involves prayers aimed at solving a person’s problems related to demons, spirits, and possession. In the bible the woman that was bent over, whom Christ healed was described as a daughter of Abraham, meaning she is a devout woman of God, yet the demon of affliction tormented her for years and she was bent over. This shows that a Christian can be possessed by the demon if she is not very fervent in the faith.  At other times, the demon would not be able to live in a Believer, if he/she is on fire, so the demon and those that project it can decide to be tormenting the person without living inside of him or her.

However, the manner some Prophets of today are administering deliverance to women and sometimes men leave a lot of questions as to what really is deliverance.  Is deliverance a physical struggle or fight, and the answer is NO!  The power of God(Anointing) does not struggle with yoke, instead, when the anointing is present, the demons depart at a command.

That's the reason for caution in the way deliverance is administered these days as can be seen from the pictures below.  Let the Prophet examine the voice he hears and be sure it is The Lord speaking to him.

Purpose of deliverance
In order to be free from addictions, depression, and all sorts of sins that may weigh a person down, the demon must be expelled, if it is indwelling in the life of a person. When the demon is expelled, the sick person recovers immediately.  Just as the woman was strengthened and walked straight after the Lord prayed for her, so it is for any other person when the deliverance minister is in the right standing with God.  

Deliverance ministration goes to the heart of foundational and ancestral problems affecting a person and the powers behind the challenges the person is facing.  Deliverance ministers who are in good standing would always hear from the Holy Ghost, concerning how to order the prayer program for effectiveness and at the end, the afflicted person is set free from the “bondage” they are experiencing. 

Can a Believer be Possessed?
The argument of whether a person can be demon possessed or afflicted is commonplace and quite unnecessary.  In the bible, there were examples of people possessed by the demon as well as those using the demonic spirit to operate and deceive people.  The housemaid who used the spirit of witchcraft to divine people and made money for her master is an example.  Are today's believers better than the believers of the bible days? NO!  

If demons could possess and oppress people in those days, why is it not possible for the same thing to happen now?  Are we wiser than the Holy Ghost that wrote the bible and included these people for us to learn and be better guided?

Is it such a big deal for a demon to enter a person? No.  A careless Christian can contact a demon by watching a video clip or looking at a naked picture. Adultery is another avenue through which demons possess people without them knowing.  So, the scripture says: “You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them because the one who is in you [God] is greater than the one who is in the world [Satan]” (1 John 4:4) is only true to those who live holy and fully yielded to the Spirit of God.  This is why the bible says, submit yourself unto the Lord before you can resist the devil, otherwise, the resistance will not be effective.

Believers are new creatures, made in the image of God because of the indwelling Holy Spirit.  Romans 8:9-11 says, “You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit of God that lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness. And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you.” 

The Bible is very correct in these scriptures, but it does not apply to every Christian.  There are young Christians, who are struggling with sin and other ungodly behaviours.  Some of these young believers do not even know how to pray, neither do they understand spiritual authority and because of this, they could be possessed by demons and afflicted also by the demons.

Process of Deliverance

When you understand self-deliverance, you will guide your step diligently from all filthiness and pollution that can expose you to demons. You will keep yourself healthy, physically and spiritually and be free from demonic pollution. It is very important for believers to understand that a polluted mind and body cannot please the Lord.  You cannot live a holy when you are manipulated by demons and influenced by projections.

Our environment here in Africa is such that there are many evil spirits moving around and if you are not regularly cleaning your house, they may lodge there; your level of education notwithstanding. If a whole university professor could carry a ritual sacrifice because he needed promotion, then education is irrelevant.  We have witchcraft agents who sponsor demonic attacks and arrows on people for them to fall into sin and lose their divine protection, so they can attack and destroy that child of God.

Witches and wizards are rightly called 'public enemy number 1.  They are the devil that many people know because they opposed everything about God and fight the children of God with light, in order to confuse him, quench his light and bring such a believer down.  So, one of the survival strategies of believers in Africa is to understand self-deliverance and spiritual self-defence prayers. Sometimes, you can be heavily attacked in your dream and when you wake up and do not know what to do, then their evil decree, their witchcraft transactions in the night could work against the person when there are no counter prayers immediately.

At such times, what do you do? You pray deliverance prayers for yourself and cancel all their evil programs done during the hour of the night. These prayers can be done any time in the morning, during your quiet time, or after or even while bathing.

What to do - Some steps to take

1. Start with praise worship. You can sing songs to praise God and worship Him.

2. Confess out loud relevant scriptures promising deliverance like:

Luke 10:19,

Ephesians 1:7,

Romans 16:20,

Revelation 12:11,

Colossians 2:14,15,

Galatians 3:13,14,

Psalm 91:3.

2 Tim. 4:18

3. Break covenants and curses to destroy their legal hold. You may pray and say: I break any curse working against me or I break any covenant working against me, in the name of Jesus.

4. Bind all the spirits associated with those covenants and curses like this:

5. Lay one hand on your head and the other on your stomach or navel and begin to pray like this: Holy Ghost fire, burn from the top of my head to the sole of my feet, in the name of Jesus.  Thereafter, go into specific prayer as you are led in the Spirit addressing the trouble you have noticed with your life and progress.  If you are sick, you can begin to mention every organ of your body; kidney, liver, intestine, blood, etc. You must not rush at this level. Lay your hands on areas that the Spirit of God leads you to. Do not be afraid if you notice that you are swaying or staggering, etc.

6. Then begin to saturate yourself with the blood of Jesus. Request, in the name of Jesus, that the blood of Jesus, enters into my spirit, soul, and body.

7. Command every spirit that is not of God in you to depart.  Come against every contrary spirit tormenting you and ask them to leave.  You demand forcefully that "In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I come against all you hidden spirits and I bind your activities in my life".

8. Address the spirit of infirmity more specifically. I speak to you directly, get out of my life now. I am redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ, come out and go now. By the power of the Holy Spirit, I prevail over you, in the name of Jesus.
