Introduction

In the kingdom of God, prosperity or wealth has secrets. The richest are not necessarily those who sweat ceaselessly night and day. There are lots of people, all over the world, who have stumbled upon the secrets of prosperity.  One of such secrets to kingdom prosperity is honouring the Lord with your First Fruit.

First fruit is one of the kingdom prosperity keys a Christian will be diligent to keep for his blessings from the Almighty God. This is an interesting topic, which has been dealt with differently by many preachers, popular and unpopular preachers.  

I must make my statement clear here that your first fruit offering ...IS NOT YOUR JANUARY SALARY as many preachers are presenting it.  It is the first income from a new business, new job or employment.  

If you are a Publisher and God gave you wisdom to write a book that will help humanity in one area or another, when you publish that book, the sales proceed of the first order you received for the book, even if it is a Trailer load belong to God as a Thanksgiving offering to honour Him.  That's your first fruit.  

If First bank or GTBank offers you the job of Managing Director, your first salary on that position is your First Fruit unto the Lord to honour Him for giving you such a promotion.

In the revelation of Christ given to John, Jesus was described as the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of kings on earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood, to underscore the importance of the first fruit and firstborn.

Brief history of the First-fruits

It’s important to understand that First Fruits is a biblical principle that is practiced and emphasized throughout the Bible. It started in the days of Abel and Cain - Genesis 4.  It continued with Moses (in Exodus 23) & continued with King Solomon and the Apostolic writings of Paul the apostle.

The law establishing the first fruit ordered that the first of all ripe fruits and of liquors, or, as it is twice expressed, the first of first-fruits, should be offered in Gods house. ( Exodus 22:29 ; 23:19 ; 34:27 ).   

It was meant to be an act of allegiance to God as the giver of all and no exact quantity was commanded, but it was left to the discretion of the individual.

It was Moses who said, “As you harvest your crops, bring the very best of the first harvest to the house of the Lord your God.” (Exodus 23:19)

King Solomon wrote about it too: “Honour the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.” (Proverbs 3:9-10)

When we give to God in obedience and affection, He gives back to us. The Holy Ghost speaking through King Solomon says “Honour the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.” (Proverbs 3:9-10).

First Fruit and Covenant

There are people created with greatness to be wealthy, from the Almighty God, and there are others who achieve greatness, riches and wealth through hard work and diligence put together.  Several times, I have stumbled on young people with greatness from God and when I ask them if they know they have greatness, they will always say NO!.

Among those people that will achieve greatness in the kingdom by hard work are people who, will remember to honour the Lord with their first fruit, every time they encounter new income and success.  Such people will see the hand of God in their lives as the scriptures has promised. 

When a believer in Christ realizes that God is a covenant keeping God, who will never forget His covenant with man and key into the demands of kingdom covenant requirement and keeps them faithfully, he will surely be rich and even wealthy.  Covenant sons and daughters receive wisdom and operate in wisdom and their struggle will reduce the moment they understand how the kingdom works and obeys the word of God.

Abel and Cain
First fruit is one of the covenant requirement that a child of God cannot ignore.  Honouring God with your first fruit brings promotion to the person doing so. It was the quality of Abel's offering that distinguished him as righteous.  Cain brought of the fruit of the ground, an offering unto the Lord, but Abel also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof...And the Lord had respect unto Abel and unto his offering - Genesis 4:3-5.

This scripture set the pace for the first fruit offering that will bring promotion. It has to be the first fruits of whatever God made possible to you and the best of it. Cain's offering was not described as firstlings, but  of the fruit of the ground, since he was a farmer, while Abel gave the firstlings of his flock and the fat thereof.

He gave God the firstlings - The best of his flocks to honour the Lord, his provider.  Whether you give your first fruit to God or not, you should remember that the Word of God is sure and settled: That whatever a man sows, the same he will reap from God.

When you embrace the concept of paying the first fruit, you have taken hold of one of the keys to divine prosperity.  When God gives you access to the mystery of prosperity you will suddenly find yourself surrounded and enveloped by favour and help from men and women you may not even know. They will just pick interest in helping you at no cost.  They are called destiny helpers and they are real.  You don't succeed alone, and you cannot achieve much without favour.

Secrets of First Fruit
The secrets of prosperity, depends on identifying the truth in the scriptures and obeying it, working hard diligently and providing services and products that solve peoples problems.  

It is a secret because, many are studying the bible and yet have not discovered the keys in the scriptures.  Many are working hard with their own wisdom, trying hard to be rich from their human wisdom and many times through harmful shortcuts.

First fruit is one the secrets to becoming wealthy in the kingdom.  It comes gradually as you walk out your salvation and live in obedience to the word of God.  Your money or seed is a powerful instrument in your hand to serve the Lord and move the gospel of Christ forward.

The Other Keys of Prosperity

There are other prosperity keys, but God does not want you to miss on the first fruit and it does not matter the kind of business or work you do. What is required is obedience and faith in God and His word and I can assure you, the year and your life will experience God's hands.

When you give the “first fruits of your increase,” as the Word says, your “barns are destined to will be filled with plenty and your vats will to overflow”.  Your FIRST FRUITS Offering will naturally bless the remaining inflows from that source for the years to come.  It gives your reward beyond the month or year it was obtained. 

Prosperity is the exclusive preserve of God. One of the names of God is Jehovah Jireh. This divine attribute portrays Him as the great provider, in whose storehouse there are inexhaustible riches. When you have an encounter with Jehovah Jireh, you have come across the God who gives again and again until you experience an overflow. The God whom we serve trades in abundance. He has more than enough resources to bless His children. However, prosperity is not meant for those who are not willing to follow divine principles, but for those who obey them.

Prosperity is as simple as a, b, c. One of the paradox of life is that the greatest achievements in life are not necessarily struggled for. The key to the greatest house of treasure is not necessarily the most gigantic of all keys. When God wants to prosper you, He will simplify situations around you. Just one step taken in the right direction will lead you into the doors of breakthroughs, which will leave you wealthy for the rest of your life.

There are 5 major keys provided by God to launch His people into uncommon prosperity. Each key will throw the doors of prosperity wide open. However, some of them are more powerful than the other. Again, some of them have functions that differ slightly from the others. However, an understanding of them will arm you with what it takes to experience and enjoy divine prosperity.

Make God Your Friend

The blessings of God are meant for His friends. God is under no obligation to bless His enemies. Friends of God are those who obey His word and do His will. God has no business with wasting his precious resources on those who are one leg in the world and another in the church. When you make God your friend, you position yourself where you can receive His blessings. The scripture rings out a note of clarity. It declares, "Say ye to the wicked, it shall be ill with him". Remember, anyone who is living in any known sin is an enemy of God. When you live righteously and walk uprightly you will rise up with boldness to possess your possessions in the area of wealth.

Seek God's Kingdom

The Bible says, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all other things shall be added unto you. "You must get your priority right. You must give prominence to God's kingdom before giving any consideration to earthly concerns. Once you possess the kingdom, you possess all the additions. No wonder, the Psalmist declared: "I have been young, now I'm old, I have never seen the righteous forsaken nor His children begging bread." 

There is nobody who sought the kingdom of God, got it and remained a poor man. The kingdom of God comes with additional blessings. Immediately you invest your resources in seeking and obtaining God's kingdom, every other blessings shall be added to you. Seekers of the heavengly Kingdom will always end up reaping several other benefits. When you seek spiritual blessings, God will give them to you with material blessings added to them. It is impossible for you to seek God's kingdom properly and have no benefit added to you.

Go Out Of Your Way To Be A Blessing Unto Others

This is one powerful key to prosperity. God blesses those who are channels of blessings to others. Do not wait until someone begs you for help or assistance, identify those who are in need and go out of your way to bless them. The children of the generous are never poor. God shall water those who water others. Givers never lack. Those who bless others sacrificially, shall never lack the good things of life. Bible characters who are mightily blessed were men and women who went out of their ways to bless others.

Sow Seeds

This is referred to as seed offering. You can pave the way for your breakthroughs by specifically sowing seeds. You are expected to take a substantial amount of money and go to God by faith and prayer stating that the financial seed you are sewing is for securing a particular breakthrough. You can promote divine blessings through such seed offerings. 

Locate an area in which you desire divine intervention, sow a seed in the house of God concerning it and you will be surprised to discover that such a needed miracle will be secured with dispatch. This method of experiencing divine prosperity has been tested and proven times without number. Try God today and He will surprise you.

Pray Wealth Releasing Prayers

There are certain mysteries in the scripture. The Bible reveals that the wealth of the gentiles shall be transferred to the saints.  But ye shall be priests of the LORD: men shall call you the Ministers of our God: ye shall eat the riches of the gentiles, and in their glory shall ye boast yourselves - Isaiah 61:6
