Governor Almakura donates......... N50m to CAN

Nasarawa State Governor Umar Almakura has donated N50 million to the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to ease it financial burden in the discharge of its duties.

The CAN officials visited the governor to console with him and people of the state over the demise of ex-governor, Aliyu Doma, who passed away last month.

He also assured the space for the construction of a Christian place of worship at the Muhammadu Buhari International Market, Karu, as provided for in the plan would be undertaken by the state government.

He urged CAN to come up with a befitting design for the project.

The governor also commended the religious body for its relentless effort towards promoting the needs for the sustenance of peaceful coexistence amongst the people of the state.

He commended the body for the role it played in bringing succour to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) affected by the recent attack by suspected herdsmen in parts of the state.

He noted CAN offered tremendous support in  relief materials, cash donations and much needed hope to all the people, asking that they receive blessings for the deeds to humanity.

Almakura used the occasion to state that the inter religious council meetings, which were previously suspended would be reintroduced, saying it would add value to a multi-religious and multi-ethnic place like Nasarawa State.

Leader of the delegation and CAN state chairman,  Bishop Joseph Masin said the visit was also to  felicitate with the state government in the spirit of Easter and “condole the governor and the people of the state over the passing away of the Former Governor Aliyu Akwe Doma”.
