Sisters.................Why are you a Believer, and What did Christ do for you?

When a man breaks the laws of his country, he loses the right to move about freely in that society, the government comes after him and he is arrested and kept away in detention and made to pay for his crime.

In the same way, when we break God’s laws, we lose the right to associate freely with Him. God is holy in every way, and when Adam and Eve, created in His image disobeyed His command and fell into sin, every other person born of a woman sinned with Adam and Eve.

For the sin of man to be atoned for before the Lord, a perfect man, holy and blameless needed to die.  No such perfect man could ever be born of the woman and that was why God sent His only Son, Jesus Christ to come to the world as a man, born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, Nor of the will of man, but of God John 1:13. to die and atone for the sins of man.

The blood of animal could not do it, and no perfect man could be found also, so  God Himself, out of love for all the people He created, paid the debt by taking on human form Himself.  Jesus, one of the three persons of the Trinity (three persons in one God), emptied Himself of glory and humbled Himself to become a baby, who grew into a man and chose to die on the cross to pay for our sins.

Lest we forget what the bible said about Jesus - that all things were made through him. This identifies Jesus as Creator—God in human flesh and God Himself called on all flesh to turn to Him and be saved (Isaiah 45:22).

What Jesus Christ came to do are so numerous to mention!

1. To Do the Will of the Father -  Reconciliation of man back to God
“For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me.” John 6:38

2. To Save Sinners - To Call Sinners to Repentance
“And when Jesus heard it, he said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.” Mark 2:17   “The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost.” 1 Timothy 1:15/   But as it is, he has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.” Hebrews 9:26

3. To Bring Light to a Dark World
“I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness.” John 12:46

4. To Be Made Like His People -
“Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery. For surely it is not angels that he helps, but he helps the offspring of Abraham. Therefore he had to be made like his brothers in every respect,so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.” Hebrews 2:14-17

5. To Bear Witness to the Truth
“Then Pilate said to him, “So you are a king?” Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. For this purpose I was born and for this purpose I have come into the world—to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice.”” John 18:37

6. To Destroy the Devil and His Works
“Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.” 1 John 3:8  “Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil…” Hebrews 2:14.

7. To Give Eternal Life
“I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. And the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.” John 6:51

8.  To Preach the Gospel
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor…but he said to them, “I must preach the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns as well; for I was sent for this purpose.”” Luke 4:18-19

9. To Give His Life a Ransom for Many
“For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Mark 10:45  Also in  Titus, it was stated thus “…waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.” Titus 2:13-14

10.  To Reveal God’s Love for Sinners
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16

11. To Die
“Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. If anyone serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there will my servant be also. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him. “Now is my soul troubled. And what shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? But for this purpose I have come to this hour.” John 12:24-27Open in Logos Bible Software (if available)

12.  To Reveal God’s Glory
“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:14

In Summary:

He came to give us life...and a more abundant life

To Redeem our Soul: - He came to redeem us from sin and sinful ways of life and to reconcile us to God the Father.  God is not a man and His ways are too different from the ways of man.  Man is from the dust, below, while God is the power from above.

To Show us the Way: - The way of the creator, nobody knew before the coming of Jesus Christ.  When He brought the people of Israel from Egypt after their bondage fr 430 years, He gave them the Ten commandments, statutes and ordinances to guide their relationship with Him and among themselves.  God knew that living in bondage for years would have effect on their way of life.  Living in the midst of idolatory corrupt and sinful people, with fetish practices would have corrupted their mind from the time of Abraham Isaac and Jacob.

God did not want them to enter the Promised  land with idolatory in their heart.  Al the sacrifices they saw in Egypt, are not the ways of the Lord, but Pagan Idol worship - an abomination unto the Lord.  SO the Lord gave them the Law in righteousness, pending the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

To Show us the Ways of God: - No one knew or understood Love, forgiveness and faith until Jesus came.  No one knew that we are a people that will reign with God in heaven.  Heaven is a beautiful place of rest and peace, far away from the stress and struggle we experience on earth.

So, Jesus came to gather the sinners and all that will receive Him and follow the godly way of life, and to prepare such people to be like himself.  He came to lead a holy and righteous life by example for us to follow, so we can live a life of faith that is pleasing to the Father.  The ways of the people are different from the ways of God, God remains the same yesterday, today and for ever...but human beings can change several times in a day.  A man will promise another man something, but may never fulfill that promise, because a man has a beginning and an end, while God lives for ever.

Deliverance from the Enemy: - Jesus came to deliver us from the enemy of our soul -Satan, who rebelled against God in heaven and was chased down to earth from heaven.  Jesus came to deliver us from his accusations, manipulations and evil influences, all of which are contrary to God. Jesus put it this way in Luke 19:10: “The Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”

Because of his purpose - to seek and save the lost, Jesus was calling sinners to come to Him and all who had laboured in life and are heavy laden, those serving God with their own righteousness and all that knew not the Lord, to come for redemption.  He forgave even the worst of sinners. No one is too sinful to come to Him.

'It is finished'?"

When Jesus had completed his assignment, He declared "It is Finished" meaning that the debts mankind owed His Father was completely paid for and wiped away forever.  Jesus through His death, eliminated the debt owed by mankind—the debt of sin.  Though the redemption of mankind is the most important finished task, many other things were finished at the cross. The power of sin and Satan were broken.

Beloved, the time is short, and God has fulfilled His part of the bargain by sending His only Begotten Son to die for our sins.  Your salvation is in your hands and no one can blame God.

Give your heart to Jesus Christ today, don't wait another if you have not done this before.  Today and now is the acceptable time and Jesus is knocking at the door of your heart...Will you open the door of your heart to Him?  If you are ready, say this prayer with me:

"Lord Jesus Christ, I come to you as a sinner, please forgive me and wash my sins away with your precious blood.  I believe you are the Lord, who died for my sins and rose again on the third day.  Come into my heart, be my Lord and saviour, give me the grace to serve you all the days of my life. Thank you for saving me.  Now I am born again" Amen.

Brethren, the fire of God burning in you will not go down in Jesus Christ name! But if there is no fire yet or the fire is getting weaker by the day, say the prayer above and let us know - we have materials to guide you through.

Receive the grace to endure till the end through Jesus Christ!
