PROPHET.......Obedience - Key to outstanding manifestation of Grace

Obedience to God’s words is the path of a believer!

The obedience to the Lord’s simple requests often serve as stepping-stones to life’s most wonderful blessings.

What is Obedience to God's Word?

Obedience to God's word can be defined as the willingness of heart to obey the instructions and advise of someone we believe, someone higher than us in authority, age or position.  Obedience is required and demanded in some levels of relationship in a well structured place.  In such a place, one is expected to obey the instruction and orders of a superior person - a Supervisor or manager over you.

In the Military, obedience is compulsory.  Instructions from superior officer is NEVER disregarded or disobeyed.  It cannot be corrected on the way down the line and obedience is commanded at all levels.

Obedience is the positive action taken as commanded or directed...and doing it  immediately. A delayed obedience is equal to no obedience.  Abraham heard the Word of God and immediately took off to execute the instruction.  When you take steps immediately to obey the Word or instruction, it shows that you believe the giver of the instruction.

Obedience of faith is doing exactly what the Lord commands, and doing it happily and immediately.  As soldiers of Christ, obedience to the Word of the Master is a command, it is mandatory and not obligatory.

What is the place of obedience?
I think it can be summed up in the following - Obedience of faith is  for our profiting, benefit of others and for God's glory.  When we obey Him, we receive instant answer to our prayers and God's name is glorified in all of that.

Our obedience encourages our brothers and sisters in Christ (Philippians 2:1-2, 2 Cor. 9:2).  When we obey God, we encourage others who are trying to do the same.  When we live in obedience and begins to command the super-natural, we encourage brothers who desire to operate in such dimension of faith, assuring them it is possible through obedience to the Word of God.

When we honor God in obedience, we bring glory to His name.  When Simon Peter obeyed Christ, the Lord used that opportunity to manifest uncommon miracle that is still a hot topic till today.

Characteristics of Obedience:

Obedience is thus the first step to following and working with God.  If a man wants to do God's will, that means he is prepared to obey God's word written in the bible, His instructions and commands.

The death of Jesus Christ on the cross was an act of obedience and if a man will do God's will and complete his course, such a person must apply the standard of the word and instructions of God daily.

God demands complete, whole-hearted obedience to His Word and it thus becomes the first key to doing the Will of God.

When you look at Deuteronomy 10:12 which talks about the requirements of God on His people which says - And now, O Israel, what does the Lord your God ask of you but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul. These are instructions requiring obedience to keep.

The Wonders of Obedience:

Obedience distinguishes you: - The times may be hard, but only the obedience of faith that will distinguish a child of God from the crowd.  Obedience may be very difficult and sometimes painful, but the gains of obedience are innumerable to mention. Obedience to God would naturally enhance the quality of one’s steps in life.

If God is your Father and you don't know how to obey Him, then you don't need a prophesy to know you are not His child.  For every child, obedience to your earthly father comes natural as long you remain a child.  We are children of God, we are never adults before Him.

Obedience to God gives us entry into all that He has for us.  It opens the door of His blessings to us and keeps us in His will.  By obedience we stay in tune with God and are given all the power of God. By obedience we put ourselves in the middle of His love and there we see His glory - John. 14:21.

By obedience we become God’s friend.  The Bible says in John 14:21, “He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.”  The word “manifest” in this verse means that Christ will come and dwell in you and with you as He promised.

When you act on the Word of God, you become one with the Father - That is the fruit of obedience.  In John 15:14 Jesus says it plainly: “You are My friends if you do whatever I command you.”  That thought, to be a friend of God, is just overwhelming to me.  I tell people that the name JESUS is sufficient for me and for all my needs.  When you become God's friend, you can easily know the mind of God concerning any matter, and He will always show you things you knew not!

By obedience we get to know God’s will.  By this I mean God's Will for our personal life apart from knowing God's general will.  The more we do what God tells us to do the more we get to know Him as a friend.  And the more we grow as His friend the more He reveals Himself and His will to us. When you know God's will for your life, the light has come to you and you can then focus your effort on serving Him acceptably.

By obedience we bear good fruit.  A life that is obedient to God will always bear good fruit.  And why is fruit so important to Him?  Well, our fruit is evidence to the world that we have the nature of Christ in us, and that we are His disciples -John. 15:8.  And whenever the Father sees the works of His Son being multiplied and magnified in the world through us, He is pleased and glorified.

By obedience we comply to the covenant of prosperity.  When we obey God's Word and instruction always, then you will see a willing heart that loves the Lord and loves to do His will.  Doing God's will becomes profitable to us when we key into the covenant blessings of God and do what the Word says.  In keeping God's covenant in different areas of life - be it in tithe and offering for prosperity or in long life or in divine health, we have our part to play ..that commits God to fulfilling His promises.

By obedience, we enter into covenant with God - Covenant is the path to Grace, and God is committed to deliver on His promises, the moment we fulfill our part and so the quality of your life is a result of the quality of obedience you give God. Specifically, when we practice God’s covenant of obedience we would flourish even in economic crisis as God will make opportunities available to those who have faith.

By obedience our prayers will be answered.  One of the things that will happen when we obey God is that our prayers will be heard and answered.  When we make obedience our lifestyle, then we are ready to experience His grace in higher dimension -  When you abide in me and I in you...You shall ask what you want and it shall be done for you John 15:7-8 and the Father is glorified.

When our obedience is complete, our commands are obeyed by others, including the demons and all the elements of the earth.  A preacher once said  “If we would have power in prayer, we must be earnest students of His Word to find out what His will regarding us is, and then having found it do it.

An obedient lifestyle helps prayer.  It speeds prayer to the throne…Our Lord Jesus Christ, ‘holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners,’ had full liberty of approach and ready access to God in prayer.  And He had this free and full access because of His unquestioning obedience to His Father.”

The Bible says, “Whatsoever we ask we receive because we keep His commands and do those things that are pleasing in His sight”  - 1 John. 3:22.

It's Time to Obey God's Word:

We can see from the scriptures that obedience is the gateway to our success in Christ as children of God - Deut 28: 1-13.  Obedience will always commit God's integrity to fulfilling His covenant promises and blessings.

If we examine the life of our fathers of faith, starting from Abraham to our Saviour Jesus Christ, we will notice speedy obedience to God's Word and instruction.  They did not have to pray on most things before they obeyed.

There are countless cases where obedience was all that was needed to usher people into their breakthroughs.  We will examine a few of them:

1.  Naaman in 2 Kings 5 - did not have to pray to be healed, he simply obeyed a prophetic instruction for his cleansing.

2.  Abraham secured generational blessing at the instance of obedience after obedience, culminating into his name being changed from Abram to Abraham.  By obedience, he became a servant, prophet and friend of God.Gen 12 - 22:1-18.

3. In John 9:1-8 - The man born blind received his sight by simply obeying the instructions of Christ

4. In Luke 5:1-11, Simon Peter obeyed the instruction to "launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for draught", not minding that he had toiled throughout the night with any catch, and as soon as he obeyed, a mighty miracle was wrought by the Lord for all to see and be blessed.

CONCLUSION:

It is obvious that God responds to our obedience of faith...especially when it seem difficult and challenging to execute His command.  In the same vein, our obedience to the Word of God triggers instance intervention, and so it is in our interest to obey God's commands.

Beloved, the time is short, Jesus is coming back again to take the saints home to everlasting enjoyment with Him.  You will be among! So, repent of your sins and forsake them.

Allow Jesus into your heart as Lord and Saviour and no matter how though things are today for you, if you will learn of God, obey His Word and serve Him, trusting in His power to save and deliver, He will turn your story round for good.

I pray that we will be a people who obey God and do His Will, I pray that we will continue to obey Him and bring glory to His worthy name.

The fire of God in you will not go down in Jesus Christ name!
