Introduction

Beloved, I welcome you again unto another brand new year, the year of our Lord Jesus Christ.

May I ask you to give thanks to God for His mercies that helped you into this new year and continue to praise Him until His praise becomes your lifestyle.

This is a year of the power of of Jesus Christ and I prophesy that every contrary power of darkness, black magic, sorcery and curses assigned against you be silenced in the name of Jesus Christ.  I break every power of darkness working against you in Jesus Christ.

Jesus tells us that we will have troubles in this world, it's for sure. However, He also promises that we have victory through our faith in Him, because Jesus Christ has already overcome the world. So, if you are facing hard and uncertain times, you can be encouraged to press on knowing that you are an overcomer!

Year of the Lord's Power
This year, by His grace I want you to experience the success of Jesus like never before as you look up to Him who created all things and all things is before Him.  This year, you shall be strong in your God and do exploits because you know Him.

The forces that work against your fruitfulness will be silenced this year.  Whether you are reading from Nigeria or Canada, USA or South Africa, the forces of your foundation, household wickedness and spirit of lust that hinder progress are 'chained with the chain of fire of God' and I command them to go from you in Jesus Christ name.....Believe it and receive your freedom in Jesus Christ name!

This is a year to prove your love for God and your faith in Jesus Christ, knowing that those that will walk righteously before the Lord will face trials.  However your trials will prove to be beneficial in burning out impurities in your heart and all filthiness.  Many times, we do not know we still habour pains of the past in the heart, jealousy, unforgiveness and even lust until we are tested.

We are not exempted from Trials
There may be situation that will happen that completely changes your plan and you begin to wonder what is happening and whether God is no longer with you, there may also be times when your expectations seem to be cut off from the realities on ground and all your efforts are not yielding any positive results. These are the times to look unto Jesus, upon whom all powers in heaven and earth resides.

There may be times when you fall again into the sin you have vowed never to do again, it is a time to look unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith and never to remain in that sin, but to repent and seek his help until you are delivered by His power.

Don't forget that we make the plans, but it is God that approves it.  So when your plans do not success or even get off the ground, look unto Him alone and be inspired to know that He cannot abandon His own.  If we are His, then He alone approves our plans, no matter how beneficial such a plan may be to the church or our lives and families.

Beloved, perilous times are here with us and men and women are tempted at home, office and even in the market place, but your faith will not fail in Jesus name.

What is Looking up to Jesus Christ?

1. It is committing your ways into His hands everyday.  As a businessman, before you leave the house in the morning, you spend quality time in praises and prayer, committing your life, family and business unto His hands for that day and He will help you to succeed.  Proverbs 16:3

2. Looking unto Jesus, who is the embodiment of Godhead means to be free from fear this year.  Anything that frightens you can harm you and the devil cannot capture you till he put fear into you heart.  You cannot serve the Almighty God in fear - NO.  Your God is not powerless and the bible said you should be rooted and built up in Him and be established in faith that no threat of the enemy can terrify you Col 2:7

3. Looking unto Jesus Christ is set your affections on things above and not things on the earth - for you are dead to the things of this world, the fashion, craze for money and power.  You are in the world, but you are not of this world, your life is hid with Christ in God.  So, as you go about your business everyday, you are not unmindful of heaven and the things of God, love for God and your neighbour.  Giving and sharing what you have with people in lower positions of life is paramount in your heart.

4. Looking up to Jesus Christ is to mortify members of your body and excise every uncleanness, fornication, inordinate affection, covetousness and all idol worshipping = which things the bible say brings the wrath of God upon children of disobedience.  Those may be your former lifestyle, anger, wrath, keeping malice, dirty jokes which corrupt the mind, which is called filthy communication, lie telling etc.  As you take steps to mortify your members you are looking nto Jesus Christ.

5. Looking unto Jesus Christ this year is 'putting on the new man', which is renewed in knowledge after the image of Jesus Christ, who created him.  It is doing the works of Jesus Christ which He did while He was on the earth:

  1. Jesus preached the gospel of the kingdom of heaven and while preaching, He was going about healing the sick and delivering all that were oppressed by the devil - As you look up to Him, those becomes your portion in Him
  2. Jesus set the captives free - for instance the madman of Gadara, whose dwelling was in the burial ground and who was possessed by legion of demons and Jesus commanded those demons out of him and he became sane for all to see.
  3. Jesus was able to raise men and women who took over the ministry after he left the earth in the place of the apostles and disciples - first the 12, then 70 and numerous men and women at the upper room, 120 of them. In Acts 1:13-14, these disciples were living in the upper room daily, offering prayer and supplication before the coming of the Holy Ghost upon them.
6. Looking up to Jesus Christ is waiting and receiving the promise of the Father - for John truely baptized you with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost and with power...and Jesus continued by saying that 'when the Holy Ghost comes upon you, automatically the power to witness Him every where on the earth comes upon you also. Acts 1

Permit me to say that you cannot do much or even think of winning this year without the help of the Holy Spirit.  So be ready to wait on the Lord more this year to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, if you have not received Him yet.

7. Looking up to Jesus Christ this year will mean putting on the bowels of mercy, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, long suffering and forebearing one another and forgiving one another in love and putting on Charity - the bond of perfection that brings peace of mind and divine security.

8. Looking up to Jesus means the word of Christ dwelling in you richly in all wisdom and thanksgiving.  It also means allowing the word of God dominate our life and everything we do, doing it in the name of the Lord.

9. Looking up to Jesus this year means that Wives will submit to their own husbands as unto the Lord and not in hypocrisy as many do. It means that husbands would love their wives and children and be not bitter with them as Christ loved the church.

10. Looking up to Jesus Christ this means that children will obey their parents in all things and the fathers would not provoke their children to anger.  Servants also obey their masters according to the flesh and not with eyeservice as men pleasers, but in singleness of heart, fearing the Lord.

What the bible say about looking up to Jesus in Hard Times
Deuteronomy 31:6 - Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Isaiah 26:3 - You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.

Isaiah 41:10 - So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

John 14:26-27 - But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

Proverbs 3:5-6 - Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

Psalm 34:17-18 - The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. 18 The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

2 Corinthians 12:9-10 - But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

1 Peter 4:7-8 - The end of all things is near. Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray. 8 Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.

1 Peter 4:12-13 - Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. 13 But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 - Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.

2 Corinthians 4:16-18 - Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

Hebrews 12:1-3 - Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

Isaiah 40:28-31 - Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. 29 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. 30 Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; 31 but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

1 Peter 5:7-10 - Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. 8 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 9 Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings. 10 And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.

Romans 5:3-8 - Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. 6 You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. 7 Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Why should you look up to Him?

He cannot fail - Remember that Jesus Christ whom you are looking up to this year cannot disappoint, neither can He fail any man.  In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God...all things were made by Him; and without Him was not anything made that was made.

Jesus Christ will do you good this year.  Follow Him and serve Him in spirit and truth, remaining focused on Him and eternity and as you praise and worship Him daily, kneel to pray to Him daily, you will not kneel to man and those things you are looking for will start pursuing you.

Particularly, by His grace your talents and skills will blossom this year for people to see and know.  That which the Lord has deposited in you will manifest this year for all to see and your stories will change for better.  No power of darkness will be able to cover your star or glory this year.  Kings and Princes will know you this year also.

His is the Lord - This Jesus you are looking up to is the Word of God, the Son of God and creature of heaven and earth and the bible says in John1:12 that as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name.

This Jesus Christ is your life and without Him, there is no life in you.  He is the living Word, the light that shineth in darkness and darkness cannot comprehend.  He is the Word that became flesh and dwelt among us, the only begotten of the Father, the Messiah, Saviour, Redeemer, Healer, full of grace and truth.

You will not deny the Lord in the word you speak and your action this year, you will see the Lord and your sorrows will turn to joy in Jesus name!

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all!
