ITALIAN POLICE .........Investigate the death of 26 Nigerian Women, 375 others Survive!

INVESTIGATION HAS OPENED in Salerno Italy over the death of 26 Nigerian women  – most of them teenagers between the age of 14 -18 years – whose bodies were recovered at sea.

According to the BBC, there are suspicions that they may have been sexually abused and murdered as they attempted to cross the Mediterranean.

Five migrants are being questioned in the southern port of Salerno, Italy.

Reports have it that 23 of the dead women had been on a rubber boat with 64 other people trying to cross the dangerous Meditaranean sea into Italy.

Their bodies were docked in a refrigerated section of the warship that rescued migrants.

Meanwhile, a Spanish warship, Cantabria that carried out the rescue operation recovered 375 migrants on board together with the bodies of the dead women.

Most of the 375 survivors brought to Salerno were sub-Saharan Africans, from Nigeria, Senegal, Ghana, The Gambia and Sudan.  Among them were 90 women – eight of them pregnant – and 52 children.
