The fruit of the Spirit is the nine characters of a transformed Christian's life.

Your attitude and actions show if you are led by the Spirit - Gal 5:22-23

You manifest the fruit, when the Holy Spirit is in control of your life.

I'm glad you opened this piece, which shows you are interested in knowing and working with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the third person in the Trinity, and a key person in our walk with the Lord.

Who Is the Holy Spirit?

He is the promise of the Father for all believers in Christ Jesus, who will among other things cloth us with power from on high  - Luke 24:49.  He is a person, though we may not see Him, the Holy Spirit is a real Person and God the Spirit. He is called several names in the Bible – Spirit of God, Spirit of Jesus Christ, the Spirit, and the Holy Spirit. We have one God in three Persons—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

When you invited Jesus Christ into your life, he actually entered your life through the Holy Spirit. He is that transforming Spirit of God that entered into your heart the day you gave your heart to Jesus Christ. His mission is to change you from inside out, if you are willing.

Without him, living a life that pleases God is impossible. But with him, you can do all things through Christ who gives you strength.

The Spirit-Filled Life

Living a Spirit Filled life depends on how you turn your life over to the Spirit and trust him on a daily basis. The Spirit-filled life is one trusting on God to produce in you the fruitful life he promised.  It starts with a desire in your heart, which is communicated to the Almighty God in prayer.

When you desire such a good thing from God and mean it in your heart...then you must willingly yield yourself to the Holy Spirit and be ready to obey the promptings and instructions of the Spirit along the way.

When you continue to pray and yield yourself, in due time, the Spirit of God living inside of you will begin to quicken you to do things that are right in line with your request.  He will begin to wake you up for prayer, remind you of some scriptures when you need them, give you instructions on what to do etc. When you speak wrong words to people, He will rebuke you, when you mistakenly lie or say half truth, He will rebuke you and remind you that you were wrong.

The Holy Spirit will remind you, and when necessary convict you of your wrong doing, so you can repent of it and be more careful next time.  This is the work of transformation of the Holy Spirit to a willing and yielded heart.

Manifesting the Fruit of the Spirit

You need the Holy Ghost working and controlling your life to manifest the fruit.

The book of Galatians 5:22-26 says, "the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control." Are these things evident in your life?

The fruit of the Spirit is love...and love does not come easy.  Forgiveness also does not come easy and you know without forgiveness, there is no love. You cannot say you love someone you cannot forgive.  This is why the bible says that Love covers a multitude of sins.  When you are in love with someone, you are also ready to forgive him or her whenever they offend you.  Forgiveness is one of the tests of love.

Now, it takes the Holy Ghost in you to forgive someone who hurt you so badly. This is why you need the person of the Holy Spirit, so that this love can manifest as a fruit. Love is so important in our lives as believers that without love in our heart, we cannot love the Lord Jesus Christ, without love in our hearts, we will not be able and willing to obey His commandments, which Jesus commanded us.  Without love in your heart, you cannot be a good leader, husband, wife or even a good child.  Without love in your heart, you don't know God, neither are you His own.

Relations and marriages are threatened around the world today because of lack of love.  You will know that for such relationship and marriages, the Holy Spirit is not there.  When the Holy Spirit enters such relations and marriages, He brings Love of God and plant it as a seed.

With love the husband or leader corrects his wife and subordinates with love, gently directing then to do the right things without creating a scene or using wrong words on them. Love is the fruit of the Holy Spirit and without Him, you cannot love.  The kind of love that covers multitude of sin is a fruit.

JOY  -   What is joy?
Joy is a precious commodity that all desires, but the joy of the lord is our portion and this is only possibly when the Holy Ghost is in-charge of a life.  The joy of the Lord being your strength Neh 8:10 enables us to fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God"

But, when they want to posses your house or sack you from your job, you must rejoice over everything and not cry because you know that everything worketh for your good as a believer in Christ.  This is the most difficult thing to do in the natural, but also one that reveals where your hope and trust lies. You have a great and Mighty God, who hears and answers your prayers, so rather than crying, you just go into your house, lock your door and lift up the letter and with high praise worship the Lord and thank Him for the sack letter and ask his mind and plan for you.

PEACE -  What is Peace ?
It is the inner joy of the Lord that comforts a believer and make him calm in the midst of challenging situations. This is one evident of being led by the Spirit of God.  It makes a believer unmovable by circumstances and adverse situations of life.  Many believers will hardly cry over situations of life, the remain unmoved in the face of disappointments and seeming failure, knowing the God they have behind them.

This peace of mind also come with the Holy Spirit is in control of a life.  The bible says "Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ"- Romans 5:1.  The Holy Ghost fills you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit" - Romans 15:13

By your attitudes and actions, we know if you are controlled by the Holy Spirit.

To be continued.
