A frightening case of child kidnap and sell has landed two ex-convicts of the Okigwe Prisons, Obinna Eze and Nkiru Nwanedu, and four others into the police net again.  They were on Monday paraded by the Imo State Police Command for attacking a 34-year-old woman, Abigail Ukah and stealing her two children.

They later sold them for N1.1 million.

The Imo State Police Commissioner, Mr. Chris Ezike, said that on August 29, 2017, Miss Oluchi Chibuike, alongside one Obinna Eze, whom she presented as her fiancée, visited her cousin, Abigail Ukah in Uzoagba in Ikeduru Local Government Area, a mother of two children, Francis Nwachukwu (five years) and Chimazaekpere Nwachukwu (two years).

Oluchi, alongside Obinna, allegedly convinced Abigail to follow them to Afara in Mbaitoli Local Government Area where Obinna resided in the company of her two children, where they stayed till 6pm.

Unknown to Abigail, the duo had hired one Vitalis Lumanze and Chinatu also known as “Salasco”, to attack her with cutlasses and kidnap her children.

At Amankuta Mbieri while heading home in the lonely bush path, the assailants struck and after inflicting several deep cuts on Abigail whom they thought was dead; the attackers took the two children back to Obinna where they passed the night.

Thereafter, Oluchi and Obinna took the children to Enugu State and sold them for N1.1 million to one Mrs. Nkiru Nwanedu, who paid N700,000 cash with a promise to pay the balance later.

Nwanedu resold the children to Mrs. Jacinta Amadi of Egede in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State who the children stayed with until she was arrested on October 27, 2017.

Abigail is still recuperating from the deep cuts she sustained while her children are in the custody of police caregivers.

The prime suspect, Obinna told journalists that he promised Abigail marriage in order to deceive her into stealing her children.

Meanwhile, 50 persons, out of which three are women, two girls, have been paraded for cultism, murder, possession of firearms, arson, faking their kidnap, child trafficking, and armed robbery.
