WEEK OF GOD'S MERCY:.......His Throne is a Throne of Mercy, He will show us Mercy!

WEEK OF GOD'S MERCY!

Introduction

We have a merciful God, who is very compassionate about our well being and progress in the spiritual and physical realms of life.  He is a God of purpose, which means that God never deviates from His goals and whatever He has purposed in His heart.

In the same vein, God expects His children to be purposeful in everything they do.  The proof of this purposeful drive in life is to be consistently focused on our goals in life.
The bible is essentially a book of covenants. And what is a covenant?  A covenant is a deal enacted by God having well-defined terms and conditions, and most times sealed with an oath.

When it comes to mercy and provoking the mercies of God, we should recognize that God's love is unconditional, but His promises are not.  There is a part that everyone would have to play to receive the promises of God.

Provoking God's Mercy
God made a promise to Abraham but in order for him to obtain this promise, there was what he had to do, he had a part to play in actualizing the promise. He had to believe the word of God and took-off to the land God promised him, hoping and looking for a city built by God

If we can play our role, God is committed to keeping His promise.  He is a covenant keeping God. Psalm 89:34.  He says in His word "My covenant I will not break, Nor alter the word that has gone out of My lips".

Whoso ever fulfills the conditions of a promise, receives it. Even for salvation of our souls, as free as it is, you cannot take delivery of it until you repent (that’s the condition), i.e. if you are too big to repent, you are too big to be saved, same as healing, you need faith to take delivery of it. The day you faith rises to 'touch' the helm of Christ, that same moment,  you receive your healing.  It does not matter where you are, in the plane, church or in a public transport, the demon responsible for the sickness departs from you and you will notice you feel better.

Mercy is promised the Merciful

Now, mercy is promised to the merciful, which means that whoso wants to receive mercy, should show himself merciful to others.  And you know that mercy comes before favour that. The Almighty God administers the covenant of mercy, because it is not the person you helped, assisted that will help you on your day of reckoning.  The Lord in His mercy would send you a good Samaritan, a destiny helper meet for your need.

A close look at Psalms 41:1-6, shows that people who show mercy to the poor and weak, the Lord will deliver them in their days of trouble.  It says " Blessed is he who has regard for the weak, the Lord delivers him in times of trouble. The Lord will protect him and preserve his life, he will bless him in the land and not surrender him to the desire of his foes.  The Lord will sustain him on his sickbed
and restore him from his bed of illness.

Showing mercy on the poor and sick people attracts God's protection, healing and deliverance in the day of trouble.  We also see in verse 10-11, that a prayer for mercy is a prayer for God's blessing.  It says "But you, O Lord, have mercy on me. raise me up, that I may repay them". King David asked God for mercy, and healing from his disease, which was bringing mockery to him from his enemies.

This prayer of King David also shows that without mercies of God, you cannot receive forgiveness of sins and certainly no healing and deliverance.  Believers do not live on assumptions, things don’t happen by luck, you have to provoke the blessings of God you desire through your conducts.  Successful believers knows how to provoke God to action.

Mercy provoked through Prayer

Mercy therefore is one of the provisions of scriptures, which means there is something you should do to provoke its release. Hebrews 4:16 says: "Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need"

The question is "What does it take for me to take delivery of Gods mercy in my life? Mercy is also a grace provision that only God can determine when it pleases Him. A man can receive help and mercy from God by repenting of his sins and asking for mercy.  This explains why King David was very successful as a King and a Prophet of God.  He would always repent of every known sin, and thereafter ask God for mercy.

It was King David that advance the reason that he was born in iniquity from his mother's womb, and therefore imperfect.  He was also the Preacher who says who can know his errors and mistakes.  It was King David that asked God not to let secret sins, sins of the heart to have dominion over him, insisting that except the Lord delivers one from presumptuous sins, such a person cannot be innocent and free from transgression.

When you are praying for mercy, you must humble yourself before the Lord and repent from your wrong doings.  Confess your weaknesses and your iniquities, which are not even hidden from the Lord and ask Him to help you. You will notice King David doing this again and again in the bible, but each time he repents of any sin, he never goes back to such a sin.  The bible says "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge" - (Hosea 4:6). Not necessarily the lack of knowledge of what they want but of what is required for what them to be delivered.

Mercy provoked by Obedience

The story of Abraham in Genesis 12:1-4 shows the importance of obedience in walking with God and receiving His promises. Now the Lord had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, From your family And from your father’s house, To a land that I will show you. I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing.  I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.

So Abram departed as the Lord had spoken to him, and Lot went with him. And Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran. So, how do we provoke His mercy?  Through our obedient actions done in faith.

Other Actions

What are the other ways and actions to provoke His mercies?

1. You must be saved: Salvation is a fundamental requirement and master key to assessing the mercies of God.

2. Serve the Lord with joy - Pleasurable kingdom commitment or service will bring favour and God's mercies to us. God desires that our commitment and service to him is pleasurable and not burdensome. “For My yoke is easy and My burden is light (Matthew 11:30)” – God cannot be a burden because whatever makes God become a burden will inevitably make one’s life a misfortune.

Psalm 102:13-14 says "You will arise and have mercy on Zion; for the time to favour her, Yes, the set time, has come.  For Your servants take pleasure in her stones, and show favour to her dust".

3. Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you -  Matthew 6:33

4. Mercy provoking sacrifices: God always responds with favour to our giving’s and sacrifices. Therefore do not rub God in your tithes. Malachi 3:10-11

5. Sowing seeds of mercy: Psalms 41 – Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. Ephesian 6:8 – knowing that whatever good anyone does, he will receive the same from the Lord, whether he is a slave or free.  If you are in a position to show mercy to someone, do it joyfully, for it shall be given back to you again.

What we shall do

This is the purpose of this week being declared a "Week of God's Mercy".

Our God is seated on the mercy seat and His throne is a throne of mercy.  This is why He encouraged us to come to the throne of mercy with boldness and ask what we want, not wavering at all. Heb 4:16 - says Let us therefore come with boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace in times of need.

That is exactly what we are going to do this week. We will approach our Master and great High Priest, Jesus Christ who has passed into the heavens with our prayers asking for mercy and grace; asking for blessings and open doors; asking for opportunities and grace to take them up successfully; asking for souls and the grace to raise and nurture them in the Word of God.

In the beginning of the year, we had a three days dry fasting with water, but in this program, we will observe a 6am - 6pm fasting period with prayers.

There are prayers requests that have not yet manifested from January this June, 2019, take them to God in prayer. We have other pressing needs from now till December this year, take them to God in prayer.

Are you seeking employment, admission, better grades in your academics, husband or wife, business opportunities.......whatever it is, take them to God in prayer.  He is your helper and not man.

I give you one secret as you enter into the prayer this week, "whatever you want is close to you where you are, the only thing is that your eyes are not yet opened to see them"  That thing you want is not very far from you, the reason why you don't have them is because you eyes are spiritually blind to them.

So part of our prayer this one week will be to ask God to open our eyes in the spirit to see vision and things around us, people and things around us that will move our lives forward; Also, we will be asking for discerning spirit to discern the meaning of our dreams as God speaks to us through dreams, but many do not understand the meaning of their dreams.

Remember, as you undertake this week of fasting and prayers, God's mercy will triumph over judgement in your life. This means that by mercy, your sins are forgiven and you have the boldness to approach the Almighty God for help. Let no commendation hinder you from praying from your heart and asking for your heart desires.  If the devil reminds you of any sin you committed in the past, if you have confessed that sin, ignore the devil, but if you have not confessed the sin before God, then confess the sin and ask for mercy...and after making your confession, resume your prayers in faith.

Why am I sure of this mercy, the bible says His mercies endureth for ever. Mercy speaks of kindness and forgiveness without remembering it again. As you ask for mercy from God, He will forgive you and cleanse you with the precious blood of Jesus Christ.  That is why in Nehemiah, the bible says  “but You are God, ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, abundant in kindness” Nehemiah 9:17.

Why am I sure again, the bible says that God's love for us is eternal and this is why He wants us to be with Him.  Because God wants us to be with Him. His mercy is required for that to happen. There is an inseparable connection between God’s love and mercy. Jesus laid down His life and became the sacrificial lamb (Isaiah 53:7) so that God’s mercy could be extended to us. Instead of punishing us for our sin, God allowed His Son to take the condemnation in our place and that singular act proved God’s love and mercy unto us and the fact that God's “mercy triumphs over judgment” -  James 2:13b.

Beloved, comfort yourselves with the few scriptures below as you engage in personal intercession this week.

1. “The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in mercy.” (Psalm 103:8)

2. “But You, O Lord, are a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering and abundant in mercy and truth.” (Psalm 86:15)

3. “Return to the Lord your God, for He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness …” (Joel 2:13)

4. “The Lord is gracious and full of compassion, slow to anger and great in mercy. The Lord is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works.” (Psalm 145:8)

5. “The Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting …” (Psalm 100:5)

6. “For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is His mercy toward those who fear Him … But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him.” (Psalm 103:11,17)

7. But go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners. (Mathew 9:13)

8. “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.”  (Numbers 6:24-26)
9. But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. Eph 2:4-5
10. Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin. Psalm 51:1-2.
11. The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.  Psalm 103:8.
12. And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. 1 Peter 5:10.

Know of a truth that our God is not just merciful, but He is overflowing with mercy and Kindness. Notice Every time God heals, restores or delivers us from danger, He is showing us His mercy, a provision He has made before we were born. Praise God for Ever!
