HOW TO KNOW JESUS CHRIST......Through His 50 Names and numerous Acts!

Praise the Lord Brethren!

The Bible is filled with many references to who Jesus is, His life, His Lordship, and what He came to do. Opportunities of all kinds are possible to us, and indeed within our reach through the name of Jesus Christ.  Opportunity is a wonderful thing to access and is key to moving to the next level in life.  Without opportunity, all the education and even experience we acquire through life become of no effect, when there is no opportunity.

POWER IN HIS NAME

I am sure many of us know the power in that wonderful name.  The name Jesus Christ is not an ordinary name.  It is a name given to us from God, it is the name of God, and it is the name at which anything is possible.  God the Father knows that man will be in need of different things according to our age, gender and culture, so He decided to give us one name, Jesus Christ, to serve as a key that opens all doors in heaven and earth, and for every need of a man in all the ages.

All over the Scripture, we read, "In my name," "In Jesus' name," or "In his name", the devils were powerless because of his name (Luke 10:17). The demons were cast out in his name, Healing occurred in his name. Salvation comes in his name. We are to baptized in his name, justified in his name and  everything we do and say is done in his name (Mark 16:17-18, Acts 3:6, 3:16, 4:10, Acts 4:12, Rom. 10:131 Cor. 6:11, Col. 3:17).

But, it is in prayer that His name brings down to you, the benefits of salvation.  The Lord commanded us to pray in his name, promising that "Whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it" (John 14:13-14). That is a fantastic promise, but it must be understood properly, because simply adding "in Jesus' name" to the end of every prayer does not guarantee success.

Praying in His name

To pray in the Name of Jesus means you’re standing in the place of Jesus; you’ve become His voice.

He gave us the legal right to use His name, the right of an attorney to function in His place, the same way a delegated member of a president’s cabinet can represent him at a state function. In other words, even though you’re the one asking the Father for something, Jesus is actually the one doing it, for you’re asking in His Name. This is why it’s impossible for God not to grant your requests since you’re asking by faith in the Name of Jesus. He has delegated His authority to you, the same authority He has on earth to request anything of the Father and have it granted.

To maximize His name in prayer, we should pray according to the Will of God for our lives, and not just our wishes.  As it is in law, so it is with the power of Attorney He gave us.  In law, we have what is called the grant of a power of attorney. This means that an individual who owns property, money, or some right gives control over it to someone else, and that person acts in the owner's name. In whatever he or she does regarding the thing under control, the action is done with the owner's authority. It is as if the owner himself were acting. Likewise, in the promise above, Jesus gives us His authority to make requests of the Father. When we ask in His name, it is as though Jesus Himself was making the request. In that name, there is absolutely awesome power.

For this authority to be exercised properly, however, the attorney must be a faithful agent of the owner. That is, his actions must be in accord with the owner's wishes. To do otherwise is to abuse the power of attorney. We see that this is true also of God: "Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us" (1 John 5:14). So when we prepare to ask something of God in Jesus' name, we need to be sure that our request reflects His will, not ours.

Then, too, God answers prayers offered in Jesus' name "that the Father may be glorified in the Son." The result of such prayer should be that God is honored and glorified, for that is its whole purpose.

Jesus has given us the power to ask in His name, and it is a wonderful privilege for all believers.  What we should endeavour to do is to make sure our requests are in accordance with the Will of God for our lives.  Prayers that are in the will of God will get quick answer.  I will give a small example.  When Daniel started praying for Jerusalem to be restored, in Daniel 9:1-5, he had discovered from the books that the 70 years period of their captivity was over.  He therefore set his face to Jerusalem to seek the face of God concerning Jerusalem.  That prayer was answered as soon as he started praying it, because it was in the will of God for Jerusalem and His people to be restored after 70 years in bondage.

Shalom!
