WHAT GOD CALLS ABOMINATION.......And how to Avoid them!

The word 'abomination' is one that evokes fear in the mind of many believers, because of the severe consequences of such actions in the past.  In abomination, God clearly mentioned and described some misconducts that are not acceptable before Him.

Every child of God that reverences the Lord would tremble at the word 'Abomination'. God is not man, God cannot be served by the human mind or heart, or as we like.  God is served according to His wishes and instruction, so if God says that an action is abominable, it simply means that such an action should never take place.  It means none of God's children should have a hand in such a thing, it means that God hates the thing with perfect hatred.

When we examine the word “abomination” in Scripture, we see that abomination have very definite implications. Abomination is used exclusively to describe things that are disgusting, loathsome and absolutely intolerable—things that are unacceptable to God.

Christians would do well to take note of what God labels abominations. Such things, be they actions, attitudes or objects, have no place in the life of a follower of Jesus Christ.

Some of the most notable abominations before God include :

 Dangers of Abominable Acts

The bible talks of people with wicked heart, who device wicked plans.  These are people, who are always thinking and planning something evil.  The danger of committing an abominable act is God's judgement.  In the past, it could be instant, depending on the nature of abomination, but today, we are living in the days of grace, and the Lord shows us mercy and judgement is delayed and sometimes the blood wipes away the offence entirely.  However, we must remember the Word of God cannot fall to the ground, so let the wise fear the Lord and depart from iniquity.

In the book of Proverbs 6:16, the bible listed out the six things the LORD hates, Yes, seven are an abomination to Him:  The include:
1. A proud look,
2. A lying tongue,
3. Hands that shed innocent blood,
4. A heart that devises wicked plans,
5. Feet that are swift in running to evil,
6. A false witness who speaks lies,
7. And one who sows discord among brethren - Abomination!

The seventh item there is he that soweth discord among brethren, a person who spreads strife among brothers, is an abominable person before the Lord.  I am discussing this topic for us to be reminded that God's word does not change.  There are many ways the enemy lead believers to sow discord among themselves without recognizing they are sowing discord and thus becoming abominable before the Almighty God.

People that bear false witness for instance.  I mean people saying what they have not verified and confirmed about a brethren are certainly acting outside the Love of God and brethren.  It is clear that God hates certain things. Now the word hate in this context also carries the meaning to detest or to abhor those things which are abominable. The word abominable means a disgusting thing or a scheme that that brings about evil. These things that God hates comes from a person's heart.

the Bible says that God hates a man or woman who sows discord among brethren. “Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamour and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice,” says the Bible (Ephesians 4:31). And the Bible says, “If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one’s religion is useless” (James 1:26).

Judgement:

The judgement of God will go after people who commit an abomination.  It may not be immediately, but surely, one day the judgement of God will fall.  Remember, what the scriptures say, that it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the Living God. Beyond earthly judgement, if a person dies without repenting from the abomination, he loses eternity in heaven.

How to Avoid Abominable Acts

1.Pure Heart

If we don’t allow God’s word to be our guide then we will quickly find ourselves coming up with all kind of ideas that will not glorify God.  That's why we should study and obey the word of God.

Without purity, it will be difficult to live godly.  Purity means that a person is guided by the word of God in most decisions.  His is quick to discern and avoid actions that can open doors to the enemy into their lives.  You need a pure heart to discipline yourself and conform to the Word of God.  Many of the acts the Lord calls abomination are carnal acts, that people carelessly and secretly commit, but if your heart is pure, you will take your eyes off them.

I call on you to embrace purity and live holy.  In the New World that God is preparing for us, there will be no room for abominations. If we want to be a part of that Kingdom, now is the time to look to God and, with His help, rid ourselves of the things that could keep us out.

2. Personal Discipline
A Christian should be diligent and discipline himself in all aspects of life.  You need to discipline your tongue, and what you say.  You need to discipline yourself in the places you visit and the things you do there.  It takes discipline to keep only friends that will sharpen your godliness and not those that will tempt you to backslide.

3. Holy Living
Holy living is not negotiable.  It makes you sensitive to what is right and wrong in the eyes of God.  In holy living, your life is sold-out to God and His works, so anything that will tarnish the name of God, you will never do.  Holy living gives you the consciousness that you will account for your actions before God.

4. Studying the Word and Praying
The consistent study of the Word of God renews our mind.  The word reveals the mind of God to us, and as we continue to study the Spirit of God enters into our heart to live there, by the word of God.  When the Spirit of God lives in us, sin and all abomination will disgust us.
