LET NOT YOUR HEART BE TROUBLED............The Lord will give you Peace!

My Peace I Give Unto You: Not As The World Giveth

Introduction

Any one who have lived at least 30 years would know that the world cannot give anyone peace.  This is because, the world itself is in chaos. How does the world give a person peace?

When there is Sunami here, War there.  There is sickness and diseases, poverty and discrimination almost everywhere.  People are dying of cancer and other killer diseases, others are kidnapped and killed by militants and others maimed by tragedies. If there is anything like 'peace' that the world offers, it will be temporal, only Jesus can give true peace to your heart.

In John 14:26-27, Jesus says “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

Peace and Prosperity
The word of God teaches that true prosperity is having peace in your soul with God, knowing that your name is written in Heaven, and that you are presently right with God in your daily walk.

This is a reflection on the peace of God we enjoy.  It can be a treasure to be at peace in the face of threatening situations.  When there are dangers and fear of the unknown, we simply relax, knowing that our Master is in-charge of our situation and that no matter what it is, He will turn it for our good.

It means we should acquaint ourselves with Him and understand His ways and trust Him to be there for us always.  That peace is actually His presence with us always that keep us unruffled and unmoved.

This brings us to the next scripture of importance in Psalms 85: 8-9 that says:

I will hear what God the Lord will say; For He will speak peace to His people, to His godly ones; But let them not turn back to folly. - Psalms 85:8-9

When you listen and hear His instruction, His peace will envelope your whole body, because His word comes with solution or as instruction and solution to a need.  Imagine starting your day with the Lord and hearing instructions for the day. You will radiate confidence in the face of uncertainty!

One of the best experience a child of God can have regularly is to hear the word of the Lord in the morning before he dresses up to go to work or business. When you receive a word from the Lord in the morning, you know your day is made already.

The word from the Lord is timely and usually specific instruction to address a need or solve a problem on hand.  Do you know that God has something to say about that problem you are facing now, be it academics, business, family live or ministry? Do you also know that while you are studying and meditating on His word, the specific instruction you need to deal with a present problem could be slipped into your ear?

Many people plan their day and leave the house in the morning without saying a word to God, meanwhile they are carrying heavy burden that need to be addressed.  No wonder there is so much frustration in the air.  Why rush out without discussing your problems and challenges with God and then you have to resort to human wisdom, cunning methods and worldly smartness, when a word from the Lord will give you the peace you deserve.

Do not plan your day, month and even the year without consulting the One who controls tomorrow. God does not only control tomorrow, He controls favour and the direction it will flow.  He single handedly decides where rain will fall and the time and the bible say times and seasons is in His hands, No wonder many of such plans never see the light of the day.

He is your Father that cares and is willing to listen to all your story.  You have the Greater One as God and you are suffering failure and disappointments...This can only be the result of ignorance, but if you are ready to wait on the Lord, study and meditate on His word, your heavenly Father is ready to release the Word that will change things for you in every season.

Having heard from Him, we should move to the next level that seals our peace with Him according to Job.

" Acquaint now thyself with Him and be at peace; Thereby good will come to you. Please receive instruction from His mouth and establish His words in your heart" Job 22:21-22

You know that peace of mind is very important to every believer.  In the world, there is tribulation, but in Christ, we have peace.  He is the Prince of peace and giver of peace.

So children of God enjoy peace of mind in the midst of turbulence because the peace we enjoy is from the Lord Jesus Christ.  It is not derived from fat bank account, connection with the President and other important personalities etc.

Jesus says "My peace I give you, not as the world gives".  Jesus gives us His own kind of peace, which is derived from His oneness with the heavenly Father.  The peace that says 'that a dead person is only sleeping', the peace that can speak to boisterous sea and it calms down.  The peace of God that passeth all understanding because it is different from worldly peace.

The book of Job is giving us some secrets to the peace of God.  It says we should acquaint ourselves with God and His word and be at peace, and with peace, good comes our way.  Again, the writer says we should receive instructions from His mouth and establish His word in our heart and it will be well with us.

When the word of God is established in our heart, we are able to trust in the Lord with all our heart and not lean on our own understanding.  We will be able to confess openly that the Lord is in charge of our situation and no matter what comes our way, we will remain unshakable, and the truth is that for our peace to stand the test of time, we must trust in the Almighty God without wavering.

And when the Lord see such a strong faith and trust in Him, He will surely direct our paths. Jesus is the Prince of peace.  In John 16:33, He encouraged his disciples with vital information about their future and the ministry, so they will not fear when such things begins to happen to them.

He told them that in Him alone, they will have peace, but in the world, they shall have tribulation.  The tribulation we are all seeing today is almost overwhelming, so imagine if there is no CHRIST to run to and rely on, it would be hell on earth to face the devil and his agents without the Saviour.

Jesus Christ is the only peace giver, because He is the prince of peace and one of the signs of a believer in Christ is the peace of mind we enjoy...not as the world offers!  But you must trust Him totally, receive His word and establish it in our hearts to enjoy this Jesus kind of peace.

Faith in Hard Times

Jesus tells us that we will have troubles in this world, it's a guarantee. However, He also promises that we have victory through our faith because Jesus Christ has overcome the world. If you are facing hard and uncertain times, you can be encouraged to press on knowing that you are an overcomer!

Use the below Bible verses about having faith in hard times to lift your spirits and to share with others questioning God's goodness.

1. Deuteronomy 31:6 - Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

2. Isaiah 26:3 - You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.

3. Isaiah 41:10 - So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

4. John 14:26-27 - But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

5. Proverbs 3:5-6 - Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

6. Psalm 34:17-18 - The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. 18 The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
