The Word of God made it clear that the law of Moses was given in righteousness because God wanted His people to know Him and His ways, which was different from what they saw and practised in Egypt for 430 years.

So God gave them the Law of Moses as a compass or guide, a Teacher and Taskmaster to take them to Christ. So, with the coming of Christ, the righteousness of God was revealed through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe.

Paul speaking about the Law concluded that a man is justified by faith and not by the works of the Law.  With the coming of Christ, we have peace with God through Christ and access by faith unto His grace, wherein we stand and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

So, what is the use of the Law to believers, or should we discard it altogether because of faith, Apostle Paul says God forbid, faith did not abolish the Law, rather the Law is established through faith.  Consequently, we will do ourselves a lot of good by examining our lifestyles through the mirror.

GOD gave us the Law in righteousness in Exodus 20.  They have not changed, but nobody will obtain justification by just doing the works of the law.  When we look into the mirror, we see some sports we are not able to see in our body looking directly.

In all of these things, we need the Spirit of fear of the Lord in order to retain the Word of God in our heart and observe them.  As you continue, you will see what I am talking about.

The bible says if we judge ourselves, we will not be judged!  So the following simple steps done honestly can be helpful for personal spiritual revival:

Looking into the Mirror - The Word of God

1 You shall have no other gods before or besides Me.   Do we have other gods, that we are serving in the secret?.

In Nigeria and Africa, many people are still worshipping idols and making sacrifices to idols of their village or family. Many do their business and trading depending on charms given to them by the witch doctors.  While many others are serving Satan as witches and wizards, seeing into the future through necromancy and other demonic means.

2. You shall not make yourself any graven image to worship it or any likeness of anything that is in the heavens above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

Do we worship other gods? Think about money and all the efforts people make to have money. Some people are busy throughout the day and night working for money,  without any time even to pray to God - Money becomes that other god, when it takes all the time of a man and dominate his thinking!

3. You shall not use or repeat the name of the Lord your God in vain [that is, lightly or frivolously, in false affirmations or profanely]; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain. Are we swearing falsely with the name of  God?
Do we tell lies using the name of God?  Business people are fond of saying they bought an article for N100 and would sell it for N150 when the article was bought for less..

4. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy (withdrawn from common employment and dedicated to God).  Six days you shall labour and do all your work.  But the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God; in it, you shall not do any work, you, or your son, your daughter, your manservant, your maidservant, your domestic animals, or the sojourner within your gates.

For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. That is why the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.  The question is "Are we keeping Sunday holy"?

Under grace, Sunday is the day of worship and honour unto the Lord, not as under the law.

5. Honour (Regard and treat with honour, due obedience, and courtesy) your father and mother, that your days may be long in the land the Lord your God gives you.  Are we honouring them?

God did not say we should honour them if they trained us in school, bought us good things, or if they are righteous people and not witches and wizards...NO!  There is no condition given, so honour your parents as they are - Witches and Wizards, occultists etc.  A child of God has God dwelling in him or her, so you should NEVER be afraid of witches and wizards as they are not able to do anything to you and if they do anything, you have the authority to reverse and cancel their works with one or two well-directed prayers.

6. You shall not commit murder. Are we killing people through other means? - Gossip and bearing false witness and fabricating rumours of things that did not happen and spreading to people.  What of people who are defrauded and they commit suicide, others kill themselves after being jilted by their loved ones.  Please let's amend our ways where necessary!

7. You shall not commit adultery. What of adultery of the heart?
People today lust after the opposite sex in their heart and many have sex toys at home to satisfy themselves.  These perversions open the door to spirit husbands and wives that will later dominate and control the victim later. This is also an act of adultery - and shame for a believer.

8. You shall not steal. What are we stealing knowingly and unknowingly?.
we take things from the office, to use at home, from our spouses without permission - these are grey areas to watch and God will help all of us.

9. You shall not witness falsely against your neighbour.
No child of God should stand in witness against an innocent person - for God is a righteous and just God.  He loves justice and renders judgement.

10. You shall not covet your neighbor's house, your neighbour's wife, or his manservant, or his maidservant, or his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbour's. The question is what are you coveting from your neighbours?

You love those cars they drive, their beautiful wives and handsome husbands? Take your eyes off your neighbour's properties -  They are not yours, converting them in your heart makes you a sinner before God.

His Grace
Though we look into His word to keep it and organize our lifestyle in line with the Word, it is His upon our lives that can enable us to live a life that is pleasing to Him.  We must continually surrender to His will and purpose as a way to receive strength from Him to succeed.  Let's look at what the bible says about His grace.
